Dooby's First Grow - CannaSutra + UFO + Mekong Haze

Small and stout. Close-up pics. Still wondering when to add another light?

She is getting bigger! At this point I have a few questions for you guys:
1. When should I transplant?
2. When should I add another light?
3. Do I start nutes after transplanting, or closer to flowering?

I'm also noticing the leaves folding a bit. Is that something to be worried about? I watered last night and the leaves had some water on them, and it's still about 1 in away from the CFL.

A little research is leading me to believe there's a possible mg def. I use bottled water. Any ideas?

Something was telling me to transplant, so I did. Man the roots had grown down and around the bottom, I was really surprised as she is less than 3 inches tall, sprouting her 6th? set of leaves. I also added another light. Another week or two and I think I'll put her into flowering. Also just ordered some ff nutes so it'll be a week or so before they are in.

I did end up getting one seed to germ out of 6 tried so far. I soaked it in water with superthrive for a day, left it in a wet paper towel for 2 days, then just manually cracked the seeds open by hand and left them for another day. When I came back 1 had a tail. Its about a week old and its growing very very slowly (Just starting to grow its first set of leaves). I dont expect much to come of it.

Dude its so funny you would say that. I just checked mine and after 17 days 1 of them finally cracked and has a very, tiny tail. Best of luck the both of us on the Haze!

Sidenote: The freebie Wappa seed I had sprouted and since has been placed in soil (twice actually, as the first cup I accidentally knocked over and spilled soil all over in the carpet.) I figured I dried out the others so I put plastic and rubber band over it and backed off on the CFL a few inches. Seems to like it much better.

Yesterday I doubled the amount of CFL lights to a total of 4 for the lonely CannaSutra. The Haze that sprouted, along with the Wappa have taproots, but are very, very slow to come out of the soil. It's been 3-4 days now and I should think there would be some growth to it.

Back to the CannaSutra, I get discouraged because I see others at the same age as mine and they are 4x the size. I'm doing everything right to the best of my knowledge, and there is growth, but just not HUGE like I see everywhere else.

The BFL book says go into flowering at 16 days old because of CFL light penetration. Cool, but his is 3x the size of mine.

Any ideas?

Special delivery today. NL and Pineapple Express from G13 labs, with Bubba Kush as a freebie! Fuck yeah excited about these babies. Although my record of germination has been to successful. These babies will be ready for the second grow.

Also got FF Big Grow and Big Bloom. I'm thinking I'll add nutes for a week, then switch to 12/12. That would be 21 days in veg (if you count from seed that is).

2 days ago I started FF Grow Big and Big Bloom at half strength. I'm thinking I'll veg for another week, then flip to 12/12.

Man you dont really get too many comments lol, ill follow your grow if ya like. Make sure when adding those nutes to go half strength and SLOWLY work your way up . Other than that man its lookin good nice nd healthy , keep it up Check out my journal when you get the time

Yeah I definitely went half strength the first time, and am using up the rest of the gallon soon. This bitch took off after adding the nutrients! Lol.

Carly (CannaSutra) now stands 3 inches tall, and nearly 6 inches at her widest.Grow Big + Big Bloom at half strength every other watering (which is currently only every 2 days). The other two seeds never broke the soil (the little bugar is still green, just nothing is happening).

The cold front that we had come through is keeping temps at 79 degrees (with the tent open that is). We have another round of 80 degree temps next week, so I'm planning on ordering a 6" inline fan/filter combo to vent heat and take care of smell in one shot. $215 including shipping? I just don't want to deal with excessively high temps during a dark period.

She has (4) 42 watt CFL's on her now, with 4 more in route from Amazon giving me 440 watts for one plant. I figured I'll concentrate and focus on just her and see how much we can yield from my first grow.

I am very eager to start germinating for my second grow (NL from G13 Labs), but my history of germination has not been so great. I also want to do a DWC system, like 2 of those $46 waterfarms. I'm lazy, I'd rather by the bitch all assembled and shit.

Journal Notes and Questions:
Heat/Odor
Inline fan/filter en route from HTG Supply. I don't care what you read, you will need ventilation for a CFL grow if done in a closet. Everything I read stated that "CFL's don't put out much heat, so there's no need for ventilation." Bullshit. With (4) 42 watt CFL's, it gets hot. Put it this way, I haven't closed the tent yet. The one time I did, it quickly got to 88 degrees and probably would have gotten hotter. Some way to pull out the hot air I've learned is imperative. I'm thinking on a neg pressure setup so I can at least close the tent. It has to be closed for 12/12 anyways, which I'm hoping happens in about 4 days. Or whenever the fan unit gets in.


Light Leage
I'm worried about how to deal with the ventilation flaps. Light leaks from them. If I seal them will the tent still have negative pressure? See images. From inside, and IMG_8504 is from outside. If I can see light, I can only assume the plants will see light as well. the Any ideas from anyone viewing this journal on how to approach this?

Seed Surprise
I found a small seed in the last stuff I had gotten. TrainWreck. I took the seed, and stuffed it into a cup of soil where two previous seeds failed to germinate. More of a, "lets see what will happen." Sure enough, this little bastard surprised me today. See images.

Soil: Fox Farm Ocean Forest with pebbled rocks at the bottom to help with drainage
Water: Bottled water. Watering every 2 days or so. PH at 6.8 ish.
Nutes: Fox Farm Grow Big + Big Bloom currently feeding 1/2 strength every other watering

I was scheduled to do nutes today but backed off and just did water only. A PH meter...I still have to get. I DO have a pool test kit that can test the PH of water using chemical solutions, and the bottled water is 6.8 ish. The only info I do not have is the PH coming out of the soil. I'm just not so sure it's a nute burn at half strength, but what the hell do I know? Maybe a PH issue coming out of the soil?

Help here?

i dont know what exectly it is but prob nutes, it is hardly a concern thats very minor if it gets worse though post some pics

I really hope this bitch is a female. 2 days before going 12/12. I've got some "just in case it's male" seedlings started, chillin in a new spot. Same shit, CannaSutra. 100% germ rate on those 5.
