I´ve never seen any difference with giving the plant less light the last couple of days.
But a trick I know works is putting in a humidifier of whatever it´s called in english (not my first language) anyway the humidity is about 70% in veg and about 40-50% in bloom. If you get the humidity down to 20% the last two weeks the plant will start to protect itself by producing more crystals.
But about 10/14, 8/16 or 0/24 I know nothing about and never seen any difference. But when the ladies are cut and hanged to dry its super important to keep it complete dark.
That´s what I can contribute with when it comes to the end of the process before harvest.
There are alot of tricks you can do all the way from seed/seedling or clone to harvest time.
Some strain works better with some method and other with some other methods.
It´s all about trying different methods and have the balls to try new things. Those people becomes the best growers who learn all the tricks for veg, bloom, harvest etc. Not the one who follow the growing 101 book. You will get a good product from following the standard rules about water, nutes, humidity, air etc. But if you find those small stuff that your strain like you WILL become a great grower.
But like I said go down from 40-50% humidity to 20% the last 1-2 weeks and COMPLETE darkness when they´re drying upside down. But that´s common knowledge when it comes to cannabis.
most people stop with nutes the last 1-2 weeks and do a flush. And some people water the plant with pure water with correct PH-level and honey or molasses to get a heavier yield, more crystals or whatever.
Never tried it before but I have 7 different strains (WW, NL, Fruit spirit, Special Queen 1, Royal Caramel, Critical and Bubble Kush) right now and a lot of extra plants to experiment with.
I recommend about 6.0 in veg and 6.3 in bloom but there´s more factors to take consideration too like different strain different PH-level, water, nutes etc, but 6.0 in veg and 6.3 in bloom works fine for me and the plant can easy pick up zink, copper, iron, boron ions, manganese if the PH-level is under at least 7 and if it´s lower then about 5.5 (not exactly numbers but close) the roots are not able to access phoshoric acid, calcium, and magnesium because they lose their solubility. If the pH drops to between 5 to 3 with temperatures above 26 degrees Celsius fungal diseases become a threat to the plant.
It´s easy to learn to grow a mediocre quality and yield but takes a lot of time and bending the "rules" and experiment to be a great grower (if you have the possibility. If you only grow for personal use, 2-3 plants under 250-400 Watt I recommend you to stay to growing cannabis 101.
And for us commercial growers who care about quality and want the best product to sell I recommend to plant a few extra for experiment. That´s the only way to know for sure 110%.
DO NOT listen to all the "experts" in here. Make your own path and try your own methods but don´t forget the chemical, biology and horticulture rules. Those are something you never skip or bend.
So if you have a few extra plant try the different dark methods, otherwise stick to the rules if you only grow 1-3 plants for personal use.
