Doubt about starting seeds in rockwool

Hi guys, this is my first time growing in hydro, and I have a very simple doubt that I wasn't able to find on any place, on soil I place the seed pointing up as the image Seeds.png and never had any problems, but I have read on some places that I should put the seed pointing down in the rockwool, is this correct?

I really appreciate any help!

Lol no worries dude. When i first started growing i read about that seed point up vs down shit and was worried about it too. After growing enough you realize the shit thats overboard and thats one of them.

Just put it in and wait, up, down, sideways whatever way you want. The seed will figure it out in the end

if you are stressed about rockwool just use jiffys or rapid rooters. i find they really smooth out the first few days after seed germination compared to rockwool

Did my last round of seeds in the rapid rooter plugs. All I did was put the seed the plug under my humidity dome. 4 days later all good

Be careful you don't accidentally dry them out with the heat mat... Dun did that and cooked my second batch of seeds cuz I was to newbish/cheap to buy the heat mat with the thermostat and they just sizzled on high overnight and that was the end of that batch...

i use oasis foam for cloning but find it harder for the seedling to penetrate through. ime, root starting peat pellets or whatever specially made seed starters, are worth it

Only advantage I saw (with RW anyways), was that if it was upside down the germ would pop up with the seed casing already gone. It just slowly peeled it off as the seed was pulled upwards by the germ.

Not sure if the casing being stuck there is good or not.. but its mostly just fiber so i cant think its doing much harm, or rotting. And the germinated seedling quickly opened up and looked upwards as soon as it could for the light. Took maybe only 4 hours in some cases, saw this bent 'neck' poke out of the roockwool, then hours later same day- 2 cotyledons point up towards the light.

With seeds the taproot is driven by gravity, it makes it easier for a seed to not have work out which way is up but it really doesn't matter... it's honestly best you handle the seed as little as possible before planting... soak it in mj friendly water until it sinks (stirring it every 20-30 minutes)... once it sinks it can hold no more water... paper towels, all that craziness isn't needed... the less human intervention the better success rate you'll have... from there drop it into whatever medium your using preferably with extra long tweezers and cover it about 1/4" with whatever medium your using, water and leave alone... make sure it's not over saturated and will dry out partially or in a cyclic manner, n your good...

I've used rock wool exclusively for years for seedling and clones. With the rock wool I found it best to have the seed sitting upright and down about 1/2 inch. Just putting the seed in rock wool sideways or upside down can cause damping off or weak starts, I've lost several seedling because of this. I've even had to peel back the rock wool and help seedling find their way up and out. In dirt no worries because the material is not so tightly compressed as is the rock wool. can't stand rockwool, for many reasons.

Jiffy pellets work great and the peat easily washes off the roots. Clean hydro seedlings. (and as stated above, they're correct: orientation of the seed does not matter, as long as it's approx 1/4" down into the sprouting medium.

Gotta try it with a cheap Rubbermaid container.... A few of the 1.5-2" net pots... Drill as many holes as u need net pots, drop in a 1x1x1 rockwool cube after properly treating it and follow what I said above as far as making the iguana land... Then throw a few airstones in, enough to just keep the cubes moist barely... The very very first time I germed seeds and 18 of the in that manner all the while I was using a method that was for cloning but it's been more years than I can remember and I've only gotten 100% seed planting maybe 75-80%.. Ive just had a bad pheno run, whole 10 packs with 1 female out of the 10.... But then I've gotten 4 fems out of 4 beans but my luck has been shit lately... Fuck it I'm going for easy to grow big yielders till I get my proverbial hydro shit on point... But I am in the process of going through 3 Brian berry cough females out of 5...

After all the blathering cuz I'm a baked potatoe with eyes at the moment so I don't even know if I explained it right, but if your interested I'll do a step by step before you use your beans... I got chronic, TGA cherrygasm and s querkle tester amid a bunch of other free stuff I wouldn't probably buy but I'll grow the dank or donk out of it.... But I been waiting to grow serious's the chronic since before they added ak47 into the mix... But not to sound like a yield whore... It will compliment the way I'm growing perfectly so if not now May as well be never....

Didn't say I couldn't use rockwool, I can root cuts like a pro with it. I said I don't like it for a variety of reasons, nasty stuff.
