it takes a dash of pollen and one small branch. it's not rocket science. i have received seeds from a seed bank twice. i bought them from the club once. your "friendly state" crap holds NO water. 99% of my beans were made by myself of gifted from people in "non-friendly" states. just stop killing your males. it's that easy. sacrifice one for the team. 
Um where did they get the strains to begin with. I think you are confused, I am not saying people should be buying seeds for every grow at all. I am all for being self sustainable, but you have to start somewhere. And what do you mean it holds no water? I can't go to my local Walmart and pick up strains, how else am i going to get them? Tell someone I am going to grow pot and ask em for seeds? I don't trust anyone anywhere near enough to know about my grow. So that leaves me with the option of buying from one of many of the few reliable seedbanks. And I would clone over seeding anyday fdd <3 I lied, I am seeding a Lr2xDiesel. i told you i got most of those form people just like you. in NON medical states. i don't go to the store and buy them. half my outdoor garden this year came from bagseed i got 10 years ago. half the strains you buy are the same shit crossed over and over again. cross a few yourself and find a gem. it's very rewarding. fuck these $5 a seed goldmines. they take NO risk. all they do is seed females and ship it out. they are raping everyone. all the seed banks.

you hear this bullshit about having to grow out 1000's of plants then growing F6's to become stable. that's all BULLSH*T. every strain i see nowadays is a simple rarity of this or that. "we grew out 10 of XXXXX and found a very unique female. we stabilized it with a skunk #1 and back-crossed to F1's." that is nothing when you have huge greenhouses. and don't even get me started on these fancy ass "breeders packs". you realize how much you are paying for CARDBOARD? it's all bullsh*t.

There is no question on that, but I have done alot of reading and to know the history behind what you are growing has value as well. Knowing i am growing a strain chimera spent over 10 years dedicated to gives me a sense of history, it's hard to describe.
