Dr Grinspoon Bonsai - Outdoor - Topped

Hello everyone!

So i was asked to start a journal on the Dr - I have grown it before indoors and was offering some advice in managing growth etc in another thread

The first time i grew it, it consumed a 2x2x2m Tent - i just let her grow didn't prune, fed it upwards of 1200 ppm in flowering and basically pumped everything i could into her, as i had never grew a pure sativa before there was a fair bit of ignorance on my part - i didn't factor in the 13+ weeks flowering and after i had harvested her id swore to never grow her again haha , in spite of all this i still harvested 6 ounces from the plant.

A few years had past , more knowledge attained and decided to try an experiment with her

Outdoors - small pot - home-made soil mix - Peat moss - Mycorrhizae - Medi-one
Topped after 3 weeks veg

Not a big plant - but that's the way i like this strain, the smoke is heavenly and although yield is important, i do not care about quantity, just the quality.
She is 3 weeks into flowering and i wanted to share the rest of the journey with you guys.

Hell ya man, i've been wanting to grow this for a while but just waiting till my skills are up. I'm thinking about ordering some more seeds soon. Looking for mainly heady uplifting herb, not much of a couch lock fan. Have any suggestions of your own?

Hey brother! Thanks for your reply - The Grinspoon is the most cerebral strain i have ever had - if you have patience then hands down order some seeds, its like smoking valium, the only other strain that im able to "function" on is Blueberry lowryder, low THC but enough to get buzzed, although i was extremely paranoid on this strain and my hearing was impeccable i swear i could hear sparrows fart a mile away haha

I have a huge collection of strains - Malawi and Columbian gold will be up for next seasons outdoor grow..

Wow I thought that just the company pics made it seem like an unusual looking strain. How is the overall grow? I have her beans waiting for space. Want to know what I am up against when I throw em in da dirt.

Nice and lanky like it should be!! nice! VALIUM! haha i love super heady strains like TrainWreck and my Lost Coast OG is pretty damn heady. Especially concentrates made from them. I know Grin doesn't yield a shit ton either, but with how good the herb is i would love to grow it. any suggestions for some other heady strains to order, i'm about to place one. I would also like some fruity strains. Been doing a lot of looking around at singleseedcentre.com. Girlfriend wants strawberry cough, whatever i get i also prefer a high calyx to leaf ratio.

Chocolope is on my radar.. i have 1 seed already but i think i may do an indoor grow for her.

@Sparkdabud.. mate if you put the Grinspoon in ground.. She will be MONSTROUS!! Hence why i did the bonsai - its unmanagable otherwise.. i realise that i could have gone up to maybe a 20-50l pot , keeping it topped and constantly trimming through veg seems to give tighter nodes, so instead of getting one crown that is far heavier than the spindly siblings, it looks like i now have 6 crowns and they are held in tight with the wire frame, this also helps produce slightly more bud because without it the stems are so thin they cannot support weight once they get heavier..

Strawberry cough is excellent.. Try Raspberry Cough from nirvana.. its a stella strain..

I recently grew out a male of this and crossed it with a greenhouse cheese - cannot wait to plant that bad boy..

High calyx to leaf hands down is hammerhead from medical.. the downside is its pure indica.. and knocks your head off.. i have pictures of this from my last indoor ill try n find em and post for you

sweet! ya all my shit is indoor so that's all i really have to compare to, i'm def going to get strawberry and raspberry cough just so i can see dif in flavor. I'm a fan of plants that grow kinda lanky for some reason, i love bending and shaping my plants, it's fun...i topped a plant once and tied the two tops to opposite sides of the pot and at the end of flower it looked kinda like a menora. I've got a crab apple tree that i'm debating shaping and growing it horizontally across the yard simply by continuing to tie it down to posts.

Yeah man - ever since i started growing 10 years ago i was always indoor.. Now i actually prefer outdoor growing even in the seasons not preferable like winter! Youd be amazed at what you can still accomplish in regards to colour and yield (as long as you have the seeds of course!)

So heres another update fresh from yesterdays pics..

Small dose of Mycorrhizae (GWS)
Fed 800 PPM of Medi-One
Foliar sprayed with Ethylene
PH.6.1

Used some garden ties to suspend some lanky stems to the frame.
Now it may not look so big at the moment - but this baby stretches about 70% during flowering so expect to see her grow above the height of the frame!!

anymore pics I just ordered some and Im looking forward to the odd plant and her wierd growth

yeah, what happened to the op?? he started this grow around april or so, and it's now almost september, i'd figure the grow should be abouty half way done by now at least, lol..
but seriously, would love to see some pix closer to harvest.. please and thank you if you're still around these parts, please update..
