dr120, 400w hps ventilation

my dr120 is on its way to me in the mail, as is my 400 hps cooltube/hood, and i'm still not quite sure which is the best way to set up my ventilation. i was thinking of two options.

1. carbon filter>>ducting>>extraction fan in the top corner of the tent, then ducting from outside the tent, thru the cool tube (inline fan on the other side of cool tube pulling air from outside, across the light) then thru ducting and out the other side of the tent.
my concern here is, is pulling cool air over a hot light gonna cause it to crack/shatter?

2. carbon filter>>ducting>>cooltube>>ducting>>outside
my concern here is, is pulling warm air from the tent, over the hot light, actually going to drop my temps any?

sorry for any confusion, im at work and have been going back and forth on this post.

I'm actually thinking of doing option 2.....interested to see the input from others here. Only bad thing about option 1 is having to buy 2 fans.

I have a 1000 in a dr120! carbon filter - ducting - hood - ducting - 400cfm fan- ducting out. If you are sucking air out of the tent then air has to come in as well. So if the room the tent is in is cool the air intake will be cool then it drops the temps. if you vent it into the same room the room will heat up then heat your tent up again! I can keep my 1000 watt light 6in from my plants with no burn, and with only the items listed above! then if its really hot in my house I turn on my central air and hook a line to the hood and have it blowing a/c air over the light! Dont vent into the same room and you should be fine!

I have my fan sitting on top of the tent to save room inside. it lays on its side and blows the air up into the attic then out the roof.

No need for a fan on the intake side it's called passive intake. Just make sure you have roughly 2x the opening comming in as out, most tents have a number of flaps you can open and close. It is always better to pull through the carbon filter than push as you have less chance of an odor leak this way. So go with filter>duct>hood>duct>fan>duct>outside

I prefer an intake fan, it is easier to block light this way. when you open the other holes in you tent you might let light in, so you would have to build a light trap for openings. It is very easy to get 2 15 dollar duct fans from a hardware store and add a little ducting to block light!

My tent is set up like #2:

filter->duct->reflector->duct->fan->duct (last section of duct is just to steer the hot air where i want it to go)

Passive intake.

Remember you're removing air, not cooling it. Your tent cools off by removing hot air and replacing it with cool air on intake.

im leaning more towards passive intake, but light getting in is stuck in the back of my mind. Another thing, i would have to vent into the same room the tent is in.. cant cut any holes in the ceiling/wall. It's a rented house and the land lord lives with me. (he's cool with the whole herb thing, but not with cutting his house up)

still trying to figure out what im gonna do about that.
