90+ is too hot for me, if I could keep my tent at 83 all day with my 600w hps I would be one happy indoor gardener

i was hoping just a 250 watt hid and using it for a mother chamber and/or to grow a couple quick autoflowers. I don't think temps will be a problem because the room has been staying in the low 70s with a 400 watt hps light going but since this is my first grow ever and the seedlings are 3 weeks old i'm not sure what to expect. Its been alot of planning and prepairing but i kno now experience is the best teacher.

I was told the other day to go buy some power strips, CFL bulbs and socket adapters to plug into the strips (for the sides of the plants) I'm wondering how many bulbs i should use?

You are already using an HID light, IMO cfls wont make much of a difference. I like T5's though. I fyou want mor light, have you looked at a 250W hps with a cool tube? somthing like this? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001GKVU0C/?tag=shopamato-20

I know you already have a light but this unit would help control temps and give you alot more lumens. Also maybe grow several plants but keep them small to lessen the need for the light to penetrate though the leaves.

Yeah, I was looking at those after I already purchased my 150w HPS setup. I will be purchasing a 250w/cool tube on my next grow. They just said since im using a 150w light in that setup that getting some CFLs on the side would help some. I'm sure on my next grow ill have a bigger setup as well. This is my first one so I'm still learning.

no use you HID for veg too, more light is always better if you can control temperatures. You could run the T5's vertically along the sides and your HID up top.

IMO opinion the side lighting should be 6500k "daylight" to add density and frosies to your buds! Works good with me running 2 additional 150w equiv cfls and 2 extra 60w equiv 2700k cfls on the sides.

My lower buds look like I may be able to pull 1/2 to a full O just from adding the lighting. Not to mention my buds are super heavy and mad thick. Do it you'll get great results.

I also have a secret jardin dr60, I'm running a lumatek 600w digital ballast with a cool tube. When running it at 400w my temps are always 23/25 degrees celsius. I have now switched it to 600w super lumens and my temps stay at 26.8 degrees celsius :)
