I agree, I don't blame the system for my problems. Just was not able to give it the attention it needed. Four surgeries, three heart related, a heart attack and a blood pressure issue. Don't want to go through that again.
I use 2 gallon nursery pots and put them in a fabric pot, put my pump in a filter bag and have run recirculating and it worked great. I'm currently not doing that. But just another option of many. BTW I like your choice of bucket.
I run an old school ebb and flow system with rockwool. One pump and one timer. Change res once a week. Easy peasy. Just got back from a 7 day trip and the system performed like a champ with no one watching.
Transplanted the girls on 8/31, did a lite watering and the plants began to leaf hook so I am waiting until the plants pick back up before I water again. This morning while looking at the plants they have picked back up.
Here they are the day after transplanting, drooping and beginning to hook.

They will get watered today with a lite solution of feed. I know that the red stems mean that I am missing some nutrient but which one, I don't know. How about you folks?
I grew some hot peppers using Bato buckets and perlite. I used a timer to adjust feedings and the plants grew and the weather got hotter. (I grew them outside under the eaves of my house)
I had some of the prettiest pepper plants I've ever grown. I saw the Bato bucket grows on the u tube by mhp gardener so I bought some and gave it a try.
If you decide to try them out, buy some paint strainer bags to line the inside. Helps to keep roots from clogging the drain.
Starting to fill the screen, maybe a few days to a week before I go into flower. Still tying down and placing the branches where best utilized.
Just a few more spots to fill, should have it ready soon.
Can see where area needs filling
Quite a number of bud sites.
Decent canopy, will need a bit more lollipopping prior to flipping.
Just a bit of grow info.
Temp's: 78 to 82 degrees'

Two 10" oscillating fans
HLG Scorpion Diablo 650 watts LED

We installed the screen on 9/26 and began pulling the branches through the screen on 9/29.

11 days later on the 10/9
Two days later, 10/11
And here they are today, switched to 12/12 flower mode yesterday 10/13. Did this with the completion of the last rez and prior to refilling I did 3 - 3 minute times to flush the root zone, there was about 4 gallon in the flush, then change the rez with a fresh 30 gallons of nutrient solution. That rez lasted 10 days so I should either make a new rez prior to my trip or just add fresh solution to the rez when it is about 1/2 empty to carry me through my trip.
Three days since last pic and one day into 12/12.
