Aloha,

Ok here it is.

If you were setting up from scratch and was to put tougher the best set up for quality production what would you do?

Outdoor
Indoor veg , outdoor flower
Indoor
Greenhouse with lights

What kind of set up, lights etc

Things to take in consideration that would help me would be a legal Hawaii grow :-) So no worries on stealth...

dude i could probiably sit here all day talking about dream grows lol.
if your worried about high electricity prices you might want to look into LED lights. personally i like the HID lights but they cost a little more to run. my dream grow would probably be a warehouse sized grow. not sure that helps you any though lol. basically a warehouse divided in half. one half full of MH lights for veg and the other half HPS lights for flower.

Thanks for the input That's what I was looking for . What someone would build here if they were going to :-)

So would you use a warehouse or large green house?

Aloha!!!!!

I was just in Hawaii last year and I was wondering how do people control the humidity here when growing and I actually saw a hydro store there to my surprise. The first thing I would dial down is temps and humidity also look into more tropical strains that grow well in high humid area's. Ive heard of grows running off solar panels and with all that sun Hawaii gets I'm sure it will save you money for electric  but my dream grow in Hawaii would be a green house no lights but the sun and using the light deprivation technique.

By the way how many plants do they allow you to grow in Hawaii?,I might be going again this summer hopefully you have something going by then:weed: because it was hard to find some last time I went got it on the night before I left.

Stipulating where you are growing largely affects what you do. Really after dialing in those factors, then you scale up. Hawaii with medical. First off max out however many plants you can have, if you can be a grower for others, then do it. Temps and humidity and genetics are really important. Dream grow in hawaii is tough. But yeah maybe a greenhouse with LED's using solar power, hell maybe even hydro in the greenhouse. Maybe think about aquaponics and get some food growing in there. Wall off your compound, with moat, crocodiles and piranhas. Cameras linked to the phone, grow programs linked up as well. Go surf.

Yeah runs an average of 80%
ya thought so. so to begin with your going to need a big or a bunch of dehumidifiers to maintain a mid range humidity. if its legal i would go greenhouse and i believe you guys dont get much more than 12 hours a light a day meaning you guys are always in the flower cycle for outdoor growing. if thats the case you'll also need some grow light so you can at least run them for a few hours a day and keep your plants from flowering too early under the natural light cycle. even though you would like to save money i would use HID lighting in a greenhouse so you could cover a little more area with each light.

Crocodiles is a great idea!
Surf has been up lately too
Got to save time for such things.
Guess why the green house seems a good idea is for power savings. Get the 12 from sun and then just need 6 from the lights for veg.
Leave at the 12/12 for flower.
Humidity though...
I use a shade cloth for food and works great.

seems like it would take a bunch of humidifiers...
I will check on that
The upfront cost on the led isn't bad when you look at the run cost of other bulbs.
.44 a kW adds up
Wonder if hid has any effect on humidity levels

My dream grow don't have to worry about power savings, ya feel? Forgot to add some hot lady (or guys if you're into that thing) grower/trimmers for the live in help.:p Well 7 plants narrows it down a bit. Since it's constant flowering there, I would say get em big in the greenhouse and let em flower whenever is the sunniest driest season. That humidity is gonna be the problem. Of course inside is easier to control and more stealth. Not to mention usually a better finished product. It's all relative.

yup it WOULD take a bunch of dehumidifiers. but thats something your going to have to deal with inside or out where you live. green house is going to be way worse than indoor for humidity as well. you'll be pulling a ton of humid outdoor air into a greenhouse to keep it cool and the co2 levels up. with all that sun cooking the water out of everything its bound to get real humid in there. if greenhouse is something you would like to do go visit a local greenhouse that grows what ever and see how they manage to keep their greenhouses under control. that would probably be your best bet on learning about your exact area. see how the others are running theirs.

So looks like a lot of the ideas are what is already out there.
That is good and bad news.
Good that what is the best way to grow looks like a lot of you are already doing.
Bad that there isn't some new crazy thing out there to be done.

oh btw. theres a hawaii growers thread on here you should look into, maybe bookmark it so you can go back and talk to other growers out there were you are. im sure all the grow secrets for around there are in the thread you'll just have to find them or ask in there. if nothing else you got 660 pages of info to read if you get bored :p
