Go with Superace 1k/hps and ballast to match for commercial growing. I usually plug into a dryer plugin for 240vac.
 
i beg to differ with you a magnetic ballast runs at an average of 8 amps where a digital runs at 2.5 amps cutting down on heat and hydro thus saving you money in your over all costs... another thing i learned was that for roughly the same price in hydro you can run 2 600 watt digital ballasts to every 1 1000 watt magnetic getting roughly 180000 lumens in comparison to 140000 lumens that a 1000 watt gives therefore cover more area again aswell with less heat.\

Of course digitals are going to be more amperage efficient. Magnetic coils induction creates a short circuit to operate where digi's use a series of diodes and capacitors to up the voltage etc. Superace also comes in 600w.

You can use a smaller gauge of wire to run 240vac because your amperage is cut in half from 120vac.
exactly. helps a lot when you are running multiple lights in a room. if you were running 8,000w in lighting for example on a light controller you would need 2 or 3 gauge copper thhn if the lights were wired 120v. if they were wired 240v you would only need 6 or 8 gauge. considered safer to have smaller wiring and loads running through the walls.

not exactly true, the load is just split between 2 120v lines but the load is half on each line so a 10amp 1000w would be putting 10 amps one one wire in 120v instead its is split between 2 120v lines at 5 amp ea.

just some detail, essentially like running 2 120v lines to power half the load ea which in turn means you are using the same wire thickness just split between to lines, which will often times be cheaper than thick lines. plus another thing THICK line is fucking hard to work with.


so 240v has its advantage but its not that special, if your running larger loads its a definite requirement.

You can run three 1kw/240vac lights on a 2/10 electical cable at about half the wires max. load where the same cable at at 120vac would be maxing the cable at 3000w.

The 220v puts alot less strain on your ballast and is cooler to the touch also cords don't get warm. I use Quantum digital ballasts and ushio super red bulbs and the S&P t-d fans thy are the quietest inline fans you can buy with insulated flex ducting in all 5 of my secret jardin tents. All has worked great together over the years with Blockbusters,Grozilla,Super Sun2 air cooled hoods and Badboy T-5's depending on what S.J.tent
