Dry ice for extra co2?

Quick question can i use a bit od dry ice for elevated co2 in grow room, will it harm plants? and whats the best way to use it if possible? thx for the feed back :D

get ine of those styrofoam ice chests and punch a few holes in the lid and put some dry ice in there and hang it above the plants

co2 is heavier than 'air'...
but youd really want it behind the fan pointed at your plants...
would it really be that much cheaper? tanks and burners are that expensive.. and easier to regulate

picked up a CAP regulator and a 60lb tank for $200 today

Dry Ice is very cheap. Block is cheaper than pellets and will last longer.

Use gloves to handle it. Place it in a cooler and crack the lid. It will continue to evaporate on its own and the rate will depend on the temp. I'm not sure I'd use a fan, I've work with enough of this to know that it will disperse nicely without help.

In my system, I plan on purchasing a block and placing it in the grow tent with the plants.

I agree with the many posts above. Place the dry ice away from your plant or light source, not to break down too fast or change your temps. Keep it either somewhere high or behind your fans.

Sure you can.

Yes it will kill your plants over time if the CO2 levels are to high,
But we all know its very good for your plants to have an elevated CO2 level.

The best way to use it is to figure out how much you need.
CO2 has a density (at 25 degrees Celsius) of 1.83 grams per liter.
to calculate how much CO2 you need.
take the Cubic feet of your grow space convert it to liters.
take that number and figure out what % you want to increase the CO2 by.
then take that number and times it by 1.83 that will = the Kilograms of dry ice you'll need to raise the CO2 by that %

You'll get it in the ball park...
