Drying and Curing question...

Hi, how long do you hang dry for indoors in a small space but with air circulation, and what is the method for curing in jars e.g. is it keep them in a dark space and open the jars twice a day, how long would you keep the jars open for when you open them? thank you!

I like to hang my buds for a week, just hang them in a cupboard and open door every day to check them, no fan or nothing. After 7 days they seem reasonably dry but i futher cut the buds from the stem and leave them on some paper for a day or two just to make sure they are thouroughly dryish then i cure. At first i open the jar a few times a day to let breath but after a few days of this i settle it down to once or twice a day as they dry pretty well by this time. Takes me about two weeks to reach nice smokable buds and any more curing just makes them better. Peace

Depends on a lot of factors, bud mass, climate, airflow... I've had to dry for as long as 2 weeks. I go by how springy the buds are when squeezed, how dry the stems are... When bud is in jars, you don't want humidity any higher than 60%. It's easy to tell, if when you pop the jar the air inside is warm and moist, take the buds out for an hour or two, then close back up. Never had mold issues.

The hygrometer is really useful, once the humidity in the jars equals your ambient humidity, drying stops so you have to be careful to open the jars maybe every couple of days once they get between 60% and your ambient humidity. At 63-65%, I'll just leave the bud in jars with the lids off till they hit 60%, but that's just me. Hygrometer/thermometer can be found at walmart for $6.

That can be said after two weeks all buds should be dry, if not conditions just arent right. Peace

Yeah kingrow has it right. Mine dry in between four and ten days at the most. In rooms with RH about 55% and temps around 65F
Check em every day and make sure they're not too dry. Jar em up and throw a hygrometer in there. Watch your RH. Look at kingrows thread about RH and burping jars. It IS the most important part...drying and curing
