Ducting light traps

I use 6" ducting for my coo tube reflector. I need to be able to have the lights come on after I am at work, I go to work at about 5:30 a.m. And I work a lot of OT and that keeps me out until past 5:30 pm. So, I am trying to think of a way to keep the light on and not overheat the tent while I am not home and the lights are on...

I was thinking about some makeshift DIY light traps. I could use cardboard and round them out on one side to 6" and make them 4.5" long, with a straight edge on the opposite end and push them through the ducting. One on either side of the tube to trap the light...whaddaya think? Better suggestions?

This is a pic of my tent so you can see I need to do something for my upcoming flowering cycle. Thanks! All Done.jpg

get backdraft dampers for the ducting. Also those tents all leak light all around the zippers so make a duct tape flap and that will help

Get a longer run of black inside ducting and wrap it with panda film black side in. After 6'-10' or so and several bends of your choice you should be rocking

Not sure if this helps your situation, but I'm using one of the tent vents as a passive intake for ventilation.

I used the box from my water cooler to create a light trap so I didn't have to monitor the time and make sure I closed the flap during the dark period.

I flattened the box a bit to make it a diamond-esque shape (This isn't necessary, I just did it to make the piece of cardboard I had work - more on that below)

Kind of difficult to see, but I created a sort of baffle with a piece of cardboard and duct taped it in to where the intake air has to travel up inside the box and over the baffle down to the level where the tent vent is.

I cut a rectangular hole about the size of the tent vent and put velcro around it and used the velcro around the vent to seal the box against the tent. A quick and dirty solution to the problem, but it serves its purpose and I havent had any issues with hermies or the like. I'm only using a 400w hps in this tent though, and my next setup will be in a 5x5 with 1000w, so the ventilation setup will change, but for this tent, this trap has been more than sufficient.

Again, don't know if this helps you at all, but it worked in my situation.
