durban poison and burmese are the two fastest finishing and most compact "IBL sativas", but they sure look like they have at least some indica in their background. i like DP well enough even if it's not a favorite flavor and gives me dry heaves, but the bud i was gifted did taste like straight up licorice and did get me high, but it wasn't too visual like columbian gold. i'd rather smoke super potent high quality seeds' haze x skunk which has at least some psychoactivity and is the strongest sativa i've smoked so far, jack's cleaner 2 as it's not only visual, but has a really cool warm and fuzzy euphoria with an even cooler touchy feely aspect that's made for sex or delicious fruity sweet haze which has at least some psychoactivity too besides an above average flavor compared to watered down generic hazes that are more clear headed too. as an added bonus, sweet haze & JC2 are 9 week strains. JC2 has some body thump stone, but is still totally functional unlike skunk #1 & blueberry etc.
if licorice isn't disgusting to you, DP is a very distinctive strain for sure and is definitely funner than street beasters.
i just found my holy smokes mozambique poison freebie leaf i set aside when it sexed male and it had a flavor that was like a cross between anise (licorice) and dried basil. it was more of a spice taste than the DP bud i was gifted that tastes like smoking a licorice stick. had it been a female, the flavor might have improved with budding. what i saw from the HS' malawi gold female i had to cut down early when it got hot spot burned from forgetting to turn my fan on was promising. anyone interested in THEIR poison should wait for the freebie offer they repeat at attitude. buy a pack of anything, and get 2 each regs of mozambique poison, malawi gold and mulanje gold. i'm pretty sure the beans were less than $40 for a 10-12 pack too. i'm going to use malawi as my next male breeder. it should be much trippier than durban in theory anyways. the DP i blazed was more like a generic haze which is nice enough, until you try something better smoking. a lot of people love it though as i saw it got almost 50% of the votes in a favorite sativa thread somewhere. it and another strain were repeatedly mentioned.
some other strains to look into for trippy highs are jack the ripper, the third dimension, killing fields, jack hammer and sannie's jack f7.
when you finish your grow, please do share a smoke report. i'd like to compare notes with my memories of the unknown DP i smoked i imagine was dutch passion as i think they were one of the first banks to carry it in the 90s.
