Im afraid I have a weak stem. Good roots coming through the bottom though. Running at a high 600 ppm with my tap at 300ppm. I have full lineup of Fox Farm and full lineup of Cyco Nutes. Should I add some Cyco Silica to strengthen the stem?

Make sure you don't have light shining into your bucket through the net pot. Might need to put more hydroton in there.

I'm having trouble keeping my res temps down. I add a frozen 16oz water bottle to the bucket every couple hours and it'll go down to about room temperature (68-71F). The plant is now under a 400w MH. I added about 1/4 of Cyco Grow A+B with tap water around 200 ppm with 200ppm of nutes. The ppm jumps about 100 a day (So 600 to 700 in 24 hours) as well as the ph a full level (5.6 to 6.8ish) in 24 hours. It's on an 18/6 light cycle but im afraid it's growth is stunted. I have decent root growth (85% are white, some light brown). Are they not eating? Or what's going on here? I noticed some branches have PURPLE on top of them but stay green underneath.. diagnosis anyone?

are you saying you start at 400 ppm (200+200) and after a few days your at 700? with plants that small i would suspect that you may not be getting an accurate reading initially. try mixing better and letting the nutrients sit for a couple hrs before testing and adding them.

Ill start at 400, and ill end up at 500 the next morning
the only way that i have seen this happen is by over feeding much larger plants than the ones you have pictured. large plants will suck down a moderate amount of water even when the ppm is higher than they would like, thus increasing ppm substantially. this cannot be the case in your situation. does the water and container look and smell clean in the root area?

The water's somewhat foggy, I think because of the pH Down in it. But was very clear when I put it in with the nutes. It does have somewhat of an organic smell? I don't want to say algea because everytime I flush the bucket it's completely clear, but it doesn't small like just water.. could be the Cyco synthetics but I'm not sure. First grow here for me.

Could it be evaporation of my frozen water bottles? I'm sure there isn't pH balanced frozen water in them.

dude lower your ppm...i just reread the first page. what conversion is your meter? if you have a .5 conversion and you are feeding them 600ppm that is way high. i would give those things like .5 ec until they start growing well. ph problem could be frozen bottle related. did you try to mix everything and let sit?

Yeah I think it's the minerals in my water making things go whacky. Just bought an RO system with a trimeter (pH/ppm/temp) for better, acurate readings. I don't have an EC meter so I don't know the conversion. All I know is that as of now my ppm says 650.

in reference to post #10
you're good. Top that shit soon, this will make it more bushy and the steam will also get a lot fatter !! Those babies are ready for action !
Also i think you meant to say steams are turning purple, not branches. That could be a number of things. As for keeping temps down, man throwing a plastic ice bottle in couple of hours seems like a pain in the dick. If you have some extra money maybe buy a res chiller and add a few extra plants !! Out west my water is fucking cold, i don't have that problem.

IDK if you changed your bucket setup or fixed that light leak or what you have going on... but, if you start getting shit growing in your res, it can absolutely raise your ppm.

...ask me how I know ;p

Maybe you res is in good condition... but since we don't really know, first thing is to make sure you are taking care of the basics so you can be sure no slime/algea/etc is growing in your buckets. Ensuring there are no light leaks, keeping temps as low as possible, and using either benes or sterile. I don't know if you filled those net pots up, but make sure there is 0.0% light getting into your buckets. Put a layer of panda film or cardboard or something on top of your net pots if you have too. The 16oz ice bottles do diddly fuck in 5g buckets. Use 1L bottles of ice and swap every 12-24 hours. Your 68-71* is fine. Use benes or h202/bleach... I like pond-zyme.

I see in your recent pictures, light can still shine into your buckets through the net pots. I could be waayyyy off.. but I'm gonna take a stab in a dark here... I'm going to guess 1: You have light leaks. 2: Not using any kind of benes or h202. 3: Temps are probably drifting up into low-mid 70s by the time you change the bottles. If that is the case, you will def fight with root rot and shit.

Yeah every time I switch the bottles it seems I have temps of 73-75. I have the netpots covered completely with hydroton. I lowered room temp to flutter from 66-70 so hopefully that'll naturally bring it down. I'm now getting yellowing leaf tips on like two of the leaves. I'll be running RO with CalMag and H2o2 soon because this tap bullshit is causing some serious lockout I believe.
