DWC: Any reason not to keep Rockwool starter cube raised slightly in the net pot?

My rockwool starter cube is staying too wet. I would like to be able to keep the water level higher, so I’m wondering if there is any potential problem with only burying half of it like this:

Any thoughts?

Good call. Not a fan of RW as you say, it holds nutrients too long which often leads to root rot

That aside, DWC does not allow for easy access to change nutes, check pH/ppm and/or maintain proper temperature parameters.

Here's my simple DIY F & D. I learned the hard way that if the water line is too high, it will keep the starter cube wet= RR

The cooler helps to keep the nutes cool. I rotate blue ice paks

Seams kinda overkill for such small plants doesnt it?

I normally top feed in rdwc, never a problem with RW getting too wet.
Is your Rockwool soaked the whole time?

I had stem rot in my last grow that cost me 3 plants because my rockwool was too wet.

It was a soilless grow not dwc so it's not the same thing because there was no aeration, but still had me worried.

Hey buddy, nice system!

I actually did something similar. I had a DIY single plant FnD setup. I ran into some problems in late flower with the plant getting really root bound, but I only had 1 gallon of hydroton.

FnD is a great system no doubt, but I'm going to try DWC again for a while.

I point the feed hose to the side so it doesn’t hit the stem. Rockwool is always wet yes but has flowing water always so I assume that’s what’s makes the difference compared to coco where the water just sits.
