DWC bagseed CFL grow

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to show off my babies and see if anyone has suggestions/comments. They are just entering the 6th week of veg (long time, I know) and I will be turning the lights back before the end of the week. Two 12" airstones in a big tub from target, 60gal airpump from petco. I'm using RO only and am at about 1.55 EC and keeping my pH a bit lower than most (I think?) at 5.6-5.7.

Thanks dude... I'm pretty happy with it. This is my first real grow of any kind. I have a buddy who had one successful DWC jalapeno grow and that gave me the confidence to dive in. The two plants are actually the same age, however initially I was growing in a very small micro DWC (folgers coffe container) and had room for only one of my seedlings after they rooted in the rock wool... so the one that is smaller was stunted from staying in the 1" rockwool for some 7-10 days longer than the one in the micro DWC. Here are some pics from the beginning of the grow, about 5 weeks ago.

Started off a little stretchy but damn man that looks sweet in the end. Funny they are the same age. Can't wait to see them budding

Looks like a great start for a healthy flowering, bro!
Those girls are gunna shoot up HUGE when you start 12/12.
I'll definitely stick around to see how it goes.

Good luck.
What strain(s) are you growing btw?

Yeah... I can't wait to see how big the larger of the two gets. LOL. At least the smaller of the two may be more reasonable, and considering neither have been sexed I'll take whatever I can get.

No idea what strain... it's heavily indica I believe. Came out of a bag of HORRIBLE smoke I got from a buddy of mine who has no taste buds it seems. Looked like good bud that was just grown badly... didn't seem to be flushed at all.

How does everyone feel about pruning? Do either of the plants seem like they could be less bushy? I don't have any emotional attachment to the lower half of the plants, really. I just don't want to stunt these babies accidentally. Ideas?

You could remove some lower growth if you want, it will help the above get bigger and bigger during flowering =)
I can't believe you haven't sexed them they are huge lol

Hey dude, if possible, i would recommend putting some mylar over the netpots,
two good reason for this;
1. Algea prevention, don't let that light hit the water.
2. Better reflection of light to the side of the plant that don't get much.

Also,
it might not hurt to get some side light to the left of the first picture posted.
Maybe throw in a small CFL on that side for shit's and giggles? Remember, those girls love light. ;]

just my 2 cents,
take it or leave it brotha :blsmoke:

Hey Phaze,

I agree with you on the needing more light. I'm debating whether to flower this thing under HPS or CFL. Of course HPS is better, but one of my diehard HID light buddies swears up and down CFL is a joke, so I kinda want to do it with fluoros just to shut him up. LOL. Regardless, when I go into flower if it's with CFL, I will be adding another 8-12 CFLs fo sho! I'm amazed how well these vegged with just the 8 CFLs it has now. I have a small 100W HPS laying around somewhere that I may throw into the mix if I flower with fluoros.

As for algae, I doubt that'll be a problem since I'm doing a complete water change every 4-5 days lately and I bleach the tub before the new water goes in.

Took this picture after getting the tub on the floor instead of the makeshift table I had going. That should give me another 3-4 feet of height before I start to have light issues. Did some pruning right after this, too.

Hey guys,

Got a digital ballast 600W HPS system ordered up the other day. As soon as that comes in and gets setup, I'll turn these back. Should be early next week... I can't wait! Pics comin soon

Well, they've been flowering for about 10 days now. Everything seems to be great... lookin healthy and growin like, well... a weed.

Anybody have any advice about adding (or not adding) liquid bat guano to the nutrient mix? I have a buddy who swears by it in the flower stage, but I'd like to get some second opinions.

You can see my new dedicated veg area (the black poly) in one of the overhead pics. Should be starting a few seeds in there soon.

lookin' pretty perfect... if your not using the CFLs in the veg room you should add them back to that plant...

nice work tho!

looks like a nice DWc grow to me for sure.very healthy nice looking plants.sometimes my plants grow the same way when growing in tubs together. they are just figthing kinda like school girls for attention. U can string ur lights to even out the playing field over certain areas of ur tub for more uniform growth or just to pimp the girls out.

Hope that helps. I like this grow.

Bloodshot,

The CFL hood I used for veg is being used in the veg area. I'm pretty confident my 600W HPS is more than enough for the flowering of the one plant though... I'm even having a few bits of heat stress right now despite having the inline cooled sealed reflector. I tell ya though, that sealed reflector and ventilation system does wonders. I can keep the plants at least 40-50% closer to the lights with the fan running. So far so good...

onthedl,

I'm using up all my CFLs for veg and since I'm now exclusively using 5gal bucket setups I have abandoned the 4x net pot tub I used in veg. The buckets are so much easier to deal with in regards to moving individual plants around and being able to turn the plants every day for uniform growth and all that good shit. Overall, just seems to be a way better setup to manage. Makes the plants way more stable too... they don't fall over in the tubs when they get heavy.

Smokin a buddy's fresh harvest tonight... also similar DWC grow. Not bad... not bad at all. Can't wait to try mine :bigjoint:

Cheers
