DWC Blueberry/Skunk #1 Grow (DIY)

Hey everyone.. im somewhat new to these forums so Im going to try and spit out my current grow. Most of the ideas for this grow came from reading this forum.. and working with my budget and space and such.

Anyway.. this BB/Skunk grow will be my 2nd, although I have not finished my first yet. However, the first grow was started from a rooted clone.. so it was basically plug it in and go. The clone was what we were told is Super Silver Haze.. but I have no real way to confirm that. However, she is in her 2nd week of flowering and is giant. She got much larger than I was really expecting to.

Ok.. so back to the BB/Skunk. The were germinated in a damp paper tower in between 2 paper plates in the attic above my grow space yesterday (4/16). One BB opened up today (4/17) as well as one Skunk. Both were placed in some rockwool that has been soaked overnight in distilled water. They were then placed into a 3" net pot with some hydroton and placed into a propogation dome. They will be moved into my vegetation room as soon as my order from wormsway.com gets here.

I also currently have 3 clones in a vegetation chamber.. but they are going to friends. The chamber has a 3 site bubble system that I made out of a small rubbermaid bin.. shoebox size. 2 foot long airstones and the only 2 outlet fishtank air pump at wally world. Ill post more pics of that soon.

Once the clones are moved out fo the vegetation room I will put the seeds under there. It has 6 16w daylight cfls in it. Also.. once my order gets here it will also be lined with mylar.

Anyway, the pics attached are my SSH haze plant in its 2nd week of bloom, the BB and Skunk seeds in their little rockwool homes inside the propogation dome, the clones inside the vegetaion chamber (not completely finished). And another shot from the top of the vegetation chamber where the exhaust fan will be once I get around to ripping it out of my old desktop .

My current setup: (All being changed for BB/skunk grow)
-5 Gallon bucket w/ giant ass netpot filled with hydroton.
-Small air pump w/ Sunleaves AquaFUSE bubble tube thing.
-Water pump with drip ring set up around stalk of plant.
-Flora Nova grow, BC Bloom, FloraMicro nutes.
-400w Sunleaves Pulsar light system.. 400w MH and HPS.

Future setup: (BB and Skunk grow)
-18 Gallon rubbermaid with 4 grow sites.
-Sunleaves 600 GPH air pump to 4 round air stones.
-Rockwool/Hydroton medium.
-B.C Boost, B.C Bloom, B.C Grow, Thrive Alive B-1 Red, Thrive Alive B-1 Green, Awesome Blossoms, Root 66, MagiCal, and SugarDaddy nutes. Hoping for massive ass buds .
-Same 400w lighting system.

To start this out.. how I made the vegetation chamber:

Step 1: Tools. All I used was an razor blade/boxcutter, a sharpie, screwdriver, and thats about it. If you do not have any of these.. get them from wherever.

Step2: Obtain 2 18 gallon rubbermaid rubs (wally world, big lots, whatever), a small desk fan that you can take apart (I used the little "Hawaiian Breeze" fan in target for 10 bucks. 3 porcelain lite fixtures, 3 y splitter light bulb adapter, 6 daylight cfls (mine are 16 watt I think). You will also need wire (I use black and white only) and any of the mentioned tools from step 1 you dont have. All of this can be had from home depot or lowes. You will also need Mylar, but if you dont have any or whatnot.. you can get chrome reflective spray paint from home depot. Just make sure you get plastic primer as well, because the chrome wont stick otherwise.

Step 3: Take apart your fan... Ive already done it so no picks.. but its pretty simple. Once you have it broken apart take the the back half of the cage and trace a circle on the bottom of either long side of the tubs. I used a sharpie.. but you can use whatever you want. Now take your razor and cut this circle out.

Step 4: Take the lid from one box and cut out the inside of it. But leave enough "meat" on the outside rim so you can still attach it to a tub.

Step5: Attach the lid you just cut UPSIDE DOWN on the tub that has not had a circle cut in it.

Step 6: Attach your fan cage to the hole you drilled in a matter so that when you attach the motor to the cage it will be moving air inside the box. I then layed the tub in between 2 chairs outside for the goop to dry.

Step 6.5: cut a small hole in the top of the other tub for wiring to fit through.

Step 7: Attach the porcelain fixtures to the bottom of the tub without the fan in it. This means that if you look down into the tub, you want to be looking at the fixtures.

Step 8: Make sure you connect all of the brass screws on the fitting to each other and all of the non-brass screws to each other. I belive this is called paralell wiring?

Step 9: I used a replacement power tool cord i accidently bought some time ago and never used to wire all the lights to a grounded plug.

Step 10: Insert y adapters into fixtures and bulbs into adapters.

Step 11: Plug in lights to make sure you got it right. If you did excellent. If you didnt time to and come back later and fix it.

---Thats where I am now... Ill post the rest of it once some stuff I ordered arrives and it gets finished finished.

I have not. My current large lady has been under a 400w her entire life. First Metal Halide then to High Pressure Sodium.

However, I feel that light is to strong for weak seedlings and such so I am using CFL's for my veg chamber.

Also, nice setup you have got going there. Looks pretty smooth. Are you going to have more CFLs eventually?

no just the 2 24 watt and 1 150 watt hps

I missed the hps the first time I read your thread. Youll be fine. Just make sure you keep track of your ph and such.

Day 3: all 3 seeds have now cracked.. both BB and the skunk also germed. Moved the 2nd BB seed into the propogation dome as well.

so how is that home made co2 working out?have you grown any in the past and had this be successful?
what is the recipe exactly?

Sounds like youll get a nice little personal stash going. What seeds/clones did you use?

When I brew some beer here soon ill be putting the fermenter in my grow room to put off some co2.

Day 4: All three seeds are growing and have their first node. Giant ass SSH plant is still.. well.. huge. 3 SSH clones put into flowering light cycle last night. Will be adding some B'cuzz rooting solution in probably 1/3 or 1/4 dose. Once their roots are larger they will be getting a stronger dose and all that.

day6: Waiting on Fedex to get here.. delivery date is today. Not much in the way of anythin new and exciting with the grow. The BB and Skunk1 are still growing well. Probably will be giving them some B'cuzz root stimulator soon.

day 7: Fedex is running late.... they will be here tomorow. My goodies are in nashville and I live about 8-10 hours from there... so I have faith. Started the 2 BB and Skunk on some B'cuzz root stimulator today. All three have roots that dip down into the res, so I figured it would be ok. They are on 1/3 strength of bottle reccomendation.

Also, one blackberry seed sprouted, still waiting on my AK48 (feminized) to crack open.

Day 8: Fedex man brought me loads of goodies. Pics to be up soon. Both BB and the Skunk have sprouted and are growing quite well. 2 blackberries and 2 AK48s cracked open, waiting on the sprout to come out.

Also finished my veg chamber today, its got two 3 inch sites and five 5.5 inch sites on it. All of them have net pots with hydroton and rockwool in the grow site. Covered the entire inside of the veg room with Mylar, as well as the walls in my closet. Only thing left now is a larger fan than the desk fan thats in there.

Day 11: All plants have now sprouted and are looking quite yummy. One Blueberry has slight yellowing on it... not sure what it is. I added a exhaust/intake fan today for the veg chamber, and a timer for the lights. They are now at 20/4. They are on no nutes yet at all. Still waiting on just a little root to poke out the bottom of the rockwool and then they will be started on minor nutes. At the moment they get foliar fed once every other day with a very very weak thrive alive green solution. My SSH plant has been getting a new nute combo, and its making a HUGE difference. I went from using Floramico and BC Bloom to using Thrive Alive Red, Magi-Cal, Sugar Daddy, Awesome Blossom, BC Boost, and BC Bloom... and all I have to say is WOW.. the BC additives I used are freaking sick! I bought the "Recipe For Success" kit because I just wanted to try them out, and dont have a big enough grow to warrant liters and such of additives. Im very impressed, my bud size and density doubled almost over night with the new nutes. Shes also starting to get nice and "sugary" on the trim leaves already. Im going to assume thats starting now because of the Sugar Daddy.

The SSH clones are still rooting, since they were cut and veg'd for only about 3 or 4 days before heading into flowering.. since I need some space . They are looking good, are currently on Root66 and Thrive Alive B-1 Green. Both at half dosage. They are rooting somewhat quick, but hopefully the Root66 will have them take off.

New addition in the grow room, all walls around the plant are now covered in Mylar (which is a pain in the ass to put up). Fan moved to where its pointed at the light. Getting anothe fan soon, temps are getting high during the day. Somewhere near 86 tops... but its my closet so it heats my room up also . So im going to try and move some more air around .

On another note... my phone was stolen.. so I dont have a camera period right now. My old digi cam is at my parents house, which im going to visit tomorow. Will try to get it.

plants look nice, i just started a bubbleponics system and i cant wait to get some more money to buy some more clones

I wish I could get clones around here... but seeing as we dont have MMJ in alabama, kind of sucks. Good thing seedbanks dont discriminate .

Everything is still going good... all the little seedlings are looking good. Will try to get more pics up soon.

Update for May 1st!

All the seeds look absolutely amazing. One of the Fem'd BB's had a little yellow on the leaf.. but it was the only one so I didnt change the way nutes/lighting is. It is fine now... looks great. Also.. one seedling (either blackberry or fem'd ak4 sprouted and then.. nothing. I left it alone in the DWC for several days and nothing. Put a SSH clone in its place. I dont want to loose this strain! smokes so good! All seedlings are under 20/4 light schedule with 6 cfl (16w I think). My monster SSH plant is a whopping 6' 8" including a 5 gallon bucket. Luckily I think it is done growing upwards... thankfully. I already had the light as high as it can possibly go in my apt. The buds are coming in very very nicely. It is on ~day 25 of flowering. Still got about a month left. Yikes.

Also... my apt got broken in to yesterday.. but somehow they missed the entire grow setup and my 42" flat panel. Go figure... however no phone.. so no camera. Cops came and filled out a report and all that good stuff. As long as the man doesnt have to search my apt its all good. But I dont see a reason for them to do that, so I think im in the clear.

Nutes--
SSH is on a 2400 ppm mix of BC Boost, BC Bloom, Sugar Daddy, Thrive Alive red, Awesome Blossom, and Magical. 2.5 gallon res that the plants DRAINS EMPTY every 2 or 3 days. Crazy...

SSH clones (2 babies about 8 inches tall flowering) are on a 600ppm mix of Floramicro and BC Bloom.

BB/AK48/Blackberry/Afghani are on a 100 ppm mix of Root66, Bcuzz Root Stimulator, and Thrive Alive green. All organic ftw. No signs of nute burn at all, all plants are growing great and showing excellent roots.

All plant look great, all seedlings are starting to develop very well. All are on the 2nd full node. Once they get their 3rd node I will probably move them to flower. The seedlings have been started on nutes, BC Boost, BC Grow, Thrive Alive.

SSH monster is coming along very well in flowering. Looks great, as do its clones.
