DWC/Bubble Bucket water level question

So this is my first grow, and I've already made a few mistakes but my plant seems healthy so far!

My plant started fom seed in a rockwool cube that was industrial grade rockwool. After it had sprouted I found out industrial rockwool is rather harmful to the baby girls as it has unwanted chemicals and the wrong density. So, knowing I might seriously hurt her, I carefully picked apart the cube and got the roots free. I then placed her in a bubble bucket system (I surrounded her stem in small hydroton for better support). At this point she was just a couple days old from sprouting. I thought for sure I had stressed her to death but she recovered and has 2 full nodes and the leaves are starting to separate to make the symbolic pot leaf shape. She's currently 13 days from sprout and her growth is picking up.

I have her in a 6 inch net pot full of hydroton in a 5 gallon bubble bucket with the water level about an inch and a half from the TOP of the net pot. This was because after the transplant, she would start to dry out any time I lowered the level. Since its hydroton only, I figured there would be sufficient oxygen to the roots even with the level that high. Now that her growth is picking back up, I was wondering what would be the reccomended action for the water level.

Thanks for all the help!

Your air pump is what gives the roots sufficient oxygen. you can keep the bucket filled with water as high as you want.

Awesome. Is there any incentive to having the water level as low as people recommend usually? I've read anywhere from an inch above the bottom of the net pot to an inch below.

I had assumed the only reason for those lower suggestions was so the rockwool or rapid rooters wouldn't drown the upper roots, but since I'm using hydroton only I figured I couldn't drown anything.

the lower water level is because most people doing dwc start in the r/w blocks. Get some Grodan cubes. Made for hydroponic growing. The reason for the lower water level is that rockwool is a wicking type of media, so if the water level touches it, it will soak it up and drown the babies. Hope it helps! Congrats on pulling her through!

Thanks Bigz and Adar I appreciate the input. Yeah I've got some Grodan cubes for the next seeds I'm starting, so I won't risk killing the girls as much :)
