Maybe? I’ve had a bigger air pump and air stone for plenty of oxygen at the roots though.

I’m at work right now and didn’t take one but I switched out to plain water and the roots were white from what I could see, but will check closer later.
White roots, or nute stained, is what you want. Brown and slimy is no bueno.
Right, and I have been constantly checking roots. I’ve had some issues at the start of the plants life with mold on the rocks (water/light, it happens) so added H2O2 and it cleared it right up, but have used enzymes religiously since.
It most likely was algae if it was light/water related. I use bleach for sterilization. A couple ml per gallon.
As long as it is lower than the bottom of the pot it should be fine. You want an air gap between the net pot and water. About an inch.

Need water level hi in the seedling stage so the water gets all the way to top.
Yes. After the roots come out the bottom of the net pot. You lower the water level so there is a gap about 1 inch. You want the top of the pebbles to be dry. The base of the plant should never get wet after the roots drop.
