DWC full room.

I am finally going to be pulling off my first legal grow and I'm ready to go all out on a budget.

I basically am wanting to do a full room grow and harvest since I am moving out in 6 months.
I am thinking at least 12 5gallon DWC grow.

I have a 400w mh/hps and planning on buying a 1000w hps.

My main concern is this will be my first grow with DWC, I have only grown in soil before.
I have purchased this Reverse Osmosis Water Filter system already.
Keep in mind that with the water filter it will take time to will up that reservoir with the filtered water.

So should I have individual DWC buckets or have all the buckets linked to a reservoir, and if I do that will it push back the time i need to replace the water/nutes so it would be longer than 2 weeks to dump it all out.
I see the refilling process as a very time consuming thing. So i would like to limit it or prolong it as long as possible

12 individual buckets is too much work I think... maybe like 6 - 8. Undercurrent would prob be better but you would have to be on your game if this is first hydro grow. Not sure where you get 2 weeks to empty the res from...

I thought it was like known thing to empty it every 2 weeks or until they drink it all up within the 2 weeks.

Would I be better off doing 2 separate undercurrents of 6 or just all 12?

Dwc grows so much faster than soil. The 12 buckets would overtake that area within a couple weeks of veg. This is the reason to do dwc... You can grow less plants because they produce so much more efficiently.

i have 4 buckets around a vertical bare bulb 600w HPS in a 5x5 and I only vegged for 3 weeks. If I was doing a normal horizontal hood, I would probably do a 1 or 2 bucket scrog in that same space. On my next run I will probably do a 2 plant vertical scrog and veg longer with training.

i would stick with 1-3 plants under the 1000w and 2-5 under the 400w

That actually seems to make me come to a realization of how much I want to do this dwc, I am so used to soil growing. How often are you refilling your buckets or reservoir?
Vertical scrog sounds like quite a project.
But please inform me how you refill your reservoir/5gal when your plant is all scrog'd up, in horizontal at least? I feel like I wouldn't be able to move the bucket without damaging some of the plant tops.

I will probably stick by your suggestion for plants per light. Thanks man.

It's important to know the quality o the membrane, as well as it's hardness removal potential- if your tap is 300 and the membrane can only handle 200, you need a better membrane ($$$). Ditto the filters. You need to know if your tap contains chloramens (combination of chlorine + ammonia)

Also how long it takes to make one- two gallons, which could take 4-6 hours, even longer.

Once your plants mature they will be drinking 1-2g per day per plant x 12= 12-24 gpd

You can bump production by adding a booster pump kit.

Personally, I would use outboard rez and top feed. See my thread for ideas

I will be drilling a hole at the bottom of the buckets which will have an indicator tube, and can also be used to drain so I don't have it move the plants. I just top feed back into the container. Check out hygro hybrid dwc DIY on YouTube to see what I am referring to.

Bro, when I am late into flowering, my buckets empty in 2-3 days if I let them......
