Dwc Grow Club

I'm doing my first grow that is plain simple DWC. I was going to use the pump and feeder tubes from the kit but decided to see if the bubbles could do it alone. All I had were 3 white dwarf seeds which I started in hydroton and rockwool in a tote with 6 gal RO water, three 12 in airstones and an air pump larger than the aquarium models. Seeds were germinated and had 1 cm long taproots.

I admit I was leary about them getting enough water and was prepared to top feed them if I had to. I put in a 4th netpot loaded with hydrton and rockwool but no seed. I put an easy to remove cover over it so I could pull it and see how far up water was spashing and how wet the rw was. I was surprised at how wet it was and couldn't see where any drip or top feeding would improve matters. So I haven't top fed at all.

I was shocked to see roots in the water on day 6. I started light nutes on day 7 per mindmelted's advice. Here's one on day 9, what do you think? I didn't take pictures when I grew this before but this seems good to me for day 9. I haven't changed the res yet and think I will do that on day 14 and up the nutes. Sound right? Thanks
Looks Good.

I would suggest upping ur nutes tho. This is going to help out with ur PH fluctuation..And no, There's really no need to do a res change.
Once u get ur Ph established i honestly feel that will help ur plants adjust and u will see a major growth explosion.
They need to eat tho.
PH Will rise if ur not feeding enough.
PH will drop if u feed to much.
Go easy day by day until ur PH settles. Which it will.
Dont waste ur nutes bro.its really not neccesary to change water every 2 weeks as long as u do partial res changes every week to keep the fresh water exchange proper.
Once they start feeding heavily. All ur going to need to do is add water and watch them grow man.
Good stuff.

P.S My seedlings are only about 4-5 days old i think..
Started them at 900 PPM
Ph is stable now 5.8-5.9..And im going to begin upping the nutes now until they are ready to flower. About 3 weeks.
In the meantime ill do a partial res change on week 2.
and save money on nutes.
Once i switch to flower is when i start a new RES now.
After that i will wait until they hit mature flower mode and start whooping these tricks.

LOL ill have pixels next time.

pH has not gone out of range but gets up to 6.4 and I adjust back to 5.7. Water temp has not been over 75. I know lower would be better but I'd have to freeze the room to do it. I may change my mind when next summer comes but as of now I've decided to not grow at all in the heat of summer because temps are just so hard to deal with. I'd have no problem keeping 68-75 in winter.
Your using rockwool right! When i was using it my ph would do that also.
I no longer use it,on your next grow change out bro.

Subscribed, I am 21 days into it. I am using a Phototron 3000 which I purchased about 30 years ago from the back page of Playboy. I started with a clone (Train Wreck) which I got at a local club, and it is about a foot high. The unit has 3 X 40 watt "U" shaped fluorescent lights and a 42 watt & 26 watt suspended, has a fan, currently running 24/7.

I plan on going 12/12 next week. What has really amazed me is how fast things grow under the DWC.

Wish me luck :weed:

I've had it ( Phototron 3000) for 30 years. When I first got it I followed the Complete instructions and was not really pleased. Now turning it into DWC and using clones it is really kicking butt. But keep in mind that 30 years ago we mostly grew outdoors and started from seed, the years make a difference. I will let you know in about 9 weeks after I get it flowering.
