everyones still here. i got a problem i think i got a slight case of root rot. Tiny areas of the roots are turning brown or sometimes dark brpwn any solutions.. My plants are huge for those who care and im sorry for leaving with put saying anything but someone stole my camera and ive been upset but i,a try to post pics for those who care =]

Alot of my upper roots are brownish and very thick like ones found in the ground in the woods..
Certain Nutes can stain ur roots man... doesnt mean u have problems..

Yo everyone.... So the lessons keep on coming. Dried my recently harvested buds until I could just get the longest stems to snap. Outside of bud was a bit crispy. Put the buds into jars as they smelled like hay and I thought I overdried. Kept checking, kept smelling like hay (but they really got moist again, but I was so scared that I had already overdried I thought that was good). Left them in jars and when I opened today.... SURPRISE.. mold.

I've re-read all the harvesting/curing guidelines and do think I can improve the technique on the next round... but still have a question.

Does bud always smell like hay as it is being dried to cure? I would think not if you do it right.

Whoever in our club has the most experience can maybe chime in on curing experiences and recommendations....

I pinched off the mold (not exactly the most high tech solution) and put buds back in my drying box (I put a timer on box to run fan a few hours on, then off so as to not blast the buds dry. Think its a good strategy). If they remain moldy maybe I'll try to make my first honey oil (what's it like BTW?).

Man Orlando wtf bro... Ehy dont u check on advice before u do crazy stuff...I dry my buds for a good 3-4 days before they hit jars...Hairs are usually brittle and ready to snap before hand... U must dry them before curing bro..
On a different note bro, My buds always take on a hay smell form hydro even my 3 month old buds in the past.. Thats how i know im buying hydro most of the time...

Hey there sam! How are you!. Lets see a pic of that rot. What you may need to do is flush with h2o2 in ph'ed water for a couple of days. 2 maybe. THen go half nutes with h2o2. Remember not to add too much h2. sorry if anyone else said this already, im too smoked out to read at all of them.

Not sure about the curing as this is my first grow BUT I have read and seen(internet) different. The curing smell usually takes on the smell of the strain and sugar. Strawberry cough = strawberry + sugary smell. I have smelled some fruity stuff.

Now I also hear from good sources that you can give your bud a specific taste. I wanna try it but anyway.

About 30 min to 1hr before chopping down you fill the rez with the essance of what ever you want! Coconut extract was tried as well as vanilla extract. The smell they say was a slightly harsher taste but the over all taste and after taste was the essance put in. Alos I hear you can place peels of certain fruits and what not into the curing jars and the bud will furment into said peels.

I just read it and have not tried it. BUt I just may.

another bullet point on the long long list really tho , so u mofos let me know how it goes , im inclined to stick a couple peppermint leaves in with a wee bud or 2 . .
Also i remember some folks chattin shit about curing with coke and beer n well whatever else , as much as i liek teh essence idea . . what about something not so concenctraed ? bottle of gatorade maybe. INFACT - im gonna try irn bru

Net, I'd be reading "Al B. Funct" post on curing. I could type it all out for you but this guy has it here already. Wish Al was still here as is post have been highly educational and very accurate. He also built a great dryer that you should check out as well if you want great buds faster.

Watch your RH closely as buds rot from the inside out if your RH is to high.
You will never see this coming till you have lost most of the bud. When you smoke weed that has that musty smell, that is bud rot! I use fruit to introduce the taste I want. This is done AFTER the buds are dry.
Note: these words above are from my many years of growing weed and there are more than one way to do anything.

Morning peeps- Late start today, town kinda shut down here. We were SUPPOSED to get 3-5 inch of snow, gotta love this town. Sorry but being from up north 3-5 inch is enough to just piss me off, can barely make a snowman or sled in 3-5. But woke this morning to schools closed. Looked outside NOTHING. Funny little town.

So on another note-potorlando- I have had that hey smell during flowering on my last grow-thought I flowered too long causing decomp in the bud, I think thats when I started posting on RIU. I never did get a straight answer to it. From what dl says its normal with hydro? Or common?

So what flavor are you thinking net? Does that stem from the berrys in water I told you about? Not sure if 30min-1hour would be long enough to absorb into bud. I might try it to see myself. Was there a thread here (RIU) you read that on?

Slow- Let's hope he feels the same way and decriminalizes. I know economy comes first, but for all of us here, the sooner the better! He does admit to smoking- and the interviewer asked if he inhaled- he said of course, other wise it wouldnt work.HAHAHA

I always thought the "hay" Type smell was wierd myself and started threads on it...Rot and musky,damn,wet and other odors would be signs of bad things..But the info i got from many was the slight "hay" smell is common.. I dunno im still learning my self.. The smell of the strain is more dominant like my poison plants smell Exactly like bananas when chopped and drying, Even taste like candy smoking and have a fruity smell cured..The slight hay smell is always present.. Im building this box slow ive seen als.. That man is awesome and should recieve the nobel prize of growing..my entire grow is dedicated to his ideas..Panhead made a cool bow i think im going to copy his..he copied it from al either way.
Always learning.Matter of fact im going to go re-read als stuff on curing again.

Im tired of this rediculous medal haha..Please go away already.
