DWC grow using GH flora series nutes

alright so I failed miserably in my first DWC attempt. I’m hear with tail between legs and starting over. I’ve got some questions.

How long do you all normally go water only?
At what point do you add nutes?

Seedlings can run on cotyledons for around a week or two. Do you all add them immediately? Or do you go water only for the first couple weeks?

Also, here’s the feeding chart I’m using what strength should I start on? And where on the schedule should I start? The seedling column or the early veg column?

Here’s my current one for shits and giggles I’ll be culling this one and starting new unless it can be saved. I started GH nutes at week 2 on the seedling column at 300 ppm (700 scale) had mad issues and switched to megacrop to try and ease the nute ratios because I was getting a wicked magnesium deficiency. The switch to megacrop and dropping my ppm from 300 to 240 seemed to get it back on track. If I can save this I will try but I’d really prefer starting over and getting the GH nutes down since I bought them for this DWC specifically. I use my megacrop for Coco DTW and is rather not waste the GH nutes.

Oh and I cut everything from the bottom to the third node and everything above it to the top I fimmed the top to get the lower mains some time to grow. Setting up for a mainline.

I remember when @Or_Gro stating your roots will tell . In this I added 1 ml each of the gh trio. That was a couple days ago and no I’ll affect .

Ditch the cardboard and next time use a 6" pot. Shit gets too top heavy and 2" just can't hold things up.
Don’t kill that plant, it looks good and it has survived the most difficult phase. Once it gets going you’ll be glad you kept it.

You heard me right the first time, no nutes til roots start branching.

A 3” pot will support a 1+lb (dry) plant, i do it all the time. A bigger pot will just steal more water from your res.

I’d remove the cardboard, cuz it will get damp, get infected, and infect plant stem. Use tin foil if you have to; but if your cup is full of hydroton, you won’t need a cover.

As far as ro, use it if you like, but plenty of successful people don’t.

I used ro for first time this past grow, painintheass. You waste at least half the water that comes outta tap, and it takes forever if you don’t use a storage tank.

My new grow is cloning now, in my 220ppm tap water...the mother was started in it...i’ll use tap water for the whole grow...

I know you are very concerned about your nutes, but just pick one set of nutes, ask for help from people who successfully use it, and realize that you must go up a learning curve....there is no way around it. 2-3 grows from now, you’ll look back and know exactly what i’m talkin bout....

I have been kind of following the chart that Airwalker has posted for my 1st dwc. I just use tap water that has sat outside for 24hrs so the chlorine evaporates. After 24 hrs my ppm is about 70 (.5 conversion) or .15 ec.
After I sprouted my seedling in a rapid rooter I put it in the dwc with the water 2 inches below the hydroton and top watered a shot glass every 2nd day. By day 9 my roots came out the bottom & I stopped the top feeding. I didn't start feeding nutes until about day 20 . The 1st feeds where just a weak 2ml/10ltr (.75ml/gal) of each of the trio and 4ml/ltr (15ml/gal) rhizotonic & .75ml/ltr (2.8ml/gal) calimagic . At day 38 I upped it to 6ml/10ltr (2.3ml/gal). At day 45 upped to 9ml/12ltr (2.8ml/gal). I have just flipped them at day 50 and am now at 16ml/12ltr (5ml/gal).
I hope this is of help to you. I have most of it documented in my journal.

Okay I’ll keep it around as always thank you!! I forgot I had some panda film I’m going cut it to size and swap it for the cardboard

You don't need to use anything man. Hydroton does the job just fine. Just make sure your cups nice and full
I was getting tiny light leaks with the hydroton so it was more a safety measure than anything else. I’ll definitely make sure the calmag goes in first! Also, I switched mid Grow to megacrop which got the plants back on track. If I were to switch back to the GH on the schedule above where would you start? This plant is 30 days today.

Idk if the switching back and forth on nutes would be ideal . Just roll with what you got her back on track .

Topped plant is looking good. I would be using the 1/2 tsp (2.5ml)of each per gal, so week 2 schedule. Try and keep soup mix under 70 degree f as well. Monitor water level, ppm & ph daily. Here is a great chart to see what is happening. CCAFA162-4B40-4C54-874F-A7E7BFC60C7F.jpeg
