dwc on carpet should i be worried about mold and mildew

i steam cleaned the carpet with bleach, layed down a bunch of baking soda and vacummed it up. also i put 2ml poly over the entire floor. my friend is trying to tell me i cannot do a dwc on carpet because it will atttrack mold and mildew. the carpet is very flat not shaggy at all. what do ou guys thing?

Your friend has a good point in that mold and mildew should be totally absent from a grow room, and the carpet is a potential risk. I wouldn't say you can't grow DWC, just that you will need to be careful and clean, which is a given for any grow room. DWC on carpet is not ideal, but it is ok.

build a box out of cheap wood and use poly and cualk to seal it up. Grow inside the box on the carpet in case of water spills, they happen.

agreed with the top 2 posters..i now have a grow tent and am soo very happy that i have it..meaning any waste just gets dumped out..

You could also just throw a couple layers of plastic down... But building a box is a good idea too
