dwc res temps question

i am just going in to winter and when my lights are turned off my res temps are getting low like 60°F (16°C) for a few hours before lights turn on then it goes back up to like 70°F (21°C)

if it was you would you still add a fish tank heater and set it just above 60°F (16°C)

my plant is growing slow so i am wondering if the 2 ish hours at them low temps are screwing me over

I would try to keep it from going lower than 65 personally. Cold roots have a hard time getting phosphorous. This can really hurt yields in flower.

If you keep it from going below 65 would it go above 70 when the lights are on? If I had to choose between being cool for a while or hot for a while I would take cool.

i would take cool to prevent rot but id rather my plant grew then just sit there doing nothing and currently 70 when the lights are on is the max i am seeing

is that what people do to bring water temps up. add a fish tank heater and set it to 65 ect. wouldn't it still take a few hours to make any differences in temps

You could also use an airstone setup, they add heat too but they can also cause pH flux. Probably better off with the heater. Most people are fighting to keep temps down so it's pretty rare to see anyone needing to add heat.

I don't think that a few hours of cool nutrients should slow it down that much. Perhaps there is another issue?

hmm i might just ride it out then and start putting my lights on at night during winter

It's always good to run lights at nite. Especially in the summer when it can be hard to keep the room cool. It can save some money on cooling costs running at night.
