DWC Root Slime Prevention

Greeting earthlings!! I am searching the widely available web for ways to keep slime from killing my dear chocolope in my 5 gallon bucket. I've been looking into Orca, Pool Shock, h202 etc.. And It all seems so pricey. Ironically enough, I began reading about clear-rez. I took a break to go prepare my bucket and as I was about to put my nutes in the water I bubbled the chlorine out of, then I had an epiphany. My tap comes out at a 7.3 PH (i adjust) and about 45 TDS PPM. I bubble the water for a night or two until the smell dissipates. Instead of bubbling it out, I am going to leave it in! Same thing as pool shock, same thing as clear rez... so why the hell not. The resulting "damage" the chlorine does will be trivial, im sure. As these guys are RESILIENT!

What do you guys think? I ran some fresh water, delighted by the tingling smell of chlorine for the first time since the last time i went swimming, and mixed my nutes. I am hoping for the best!

I transplanted this seedling from a very small hempy cup that was 100% perlite, waited till it was BONE DRY. Pulled plat out of the cup, washed remaining perlite away and am using black river rock from LOWES since I had no other options that I know of.
This is my FIRST DWC. I can ALREADY see new growth. less than 4 hours and I have OVER 2 inches of root growth and fibrous "sub" roots? Not sure of the terminology but she seems FINE. Any thoughts?

lol clear rez is the same as pool shock, thats what some guy said in a recent post on this forum, ya don't boil it out, I think that would remove the stuff that works haha

I say go for it!
After growing for years, i had never had root problems and/or the slime. I started using RO water, and guess what? The fucking slime devastated my grows(over and over, until I switched setups)until I figured some shit out:-) I'm pretty sure, looking back, that the chlorine and chloramine that was in my city tap water, were keeping shit clean.
If I were you, and it sounds like your choosing the sterile/dead reservoir option, I wouldn't just count on that alone. Keep rez/bucket temps in check. And look into other products to keep sterile.
To me, it's like taking PrilosecOTC: Don't get heart burn in the first place! Lol

You either aim for a sterile reservoir or one inoculated with beneficial bacteria.

The later being easier to achieve.

A few ml of orca brewed with an airstone for 3 days with a tablespoon of brown sugar and 3 gallons of h2o and you now have 3 gal orca.

I am not willing to put sweets into the res till about week 4 flower. However, I think I am going to take the hit on the head and buy a small guy of orca. I REALLY dont want to mess this strain up. I got lucky and found some nanners and im hoping i am able to stay on top of things. Is there a cheaper alternative? Maybe just go with the pool shock if anything?

One can always run .5ml bleach sodium hypochlorite per gallon. Replace daily. Pool shock is stronger, calcium hypochlorite, if you have it.

I swear by the live res, after trying sterile for years with limited success.

I got lazy at the beginning of my dwc last month and wasn't running any pondezyme and or hydroguard and my temps stay room temperature witch is around 73-77 degrees and one day bam nasty sass water with white snot my roots looked like they were trying to curl up to the surface so I washed my buckets and roots under warm water and filled them up and went with a proven method that many use and that's pondezyme and hydroguard its Rez always smells the good and no
Slime and that's at temps peaking @ 76-77 for a good part of the day 60$ for a gallon of hydroguard and tub of pondezyme and it last forever
