dyna-gro nutes anyone????

it seems to me with the dyna line its hard to burn toburn your plants, i mixed up a batch of gro and pro-tek it was a 2100 ppm and i had to wait till the next night when i got home to add more water ( damn slow RO filters) but i forgot for 2 more days and had no signs of burns just happy green plants
 
The ones on the left were at 8 weeks flowering. I put them into veg as soon as they showed roots. The ones on the right are about 3 weeks behind them. There's a cloner filled with cuttings which I just put into flower (these pix date to June 26 or thereabouts). So the oldest ones you see here are chopped and drying now and they have been rereplaced by another batch of 12 rooted clones.

How big were the clones?
How much you getting per plant?
 
My mothers are large. The cuttings are about 12-14 inches long.

As far as yield, they are still drying. The only plant I weighed wet was 135 grams after trimming. I expect 9-10 ounces from 9 plants. I have 12 plants in their place. We'll see how that goes. Then the other tub will be finished and I'll empty and refill that too.:mrgreen: Harvest every five weeks.bongsmilie

how big are those trays and what kind of light are you using? I run a ebb&flo, but the month or more of veg is killing me, I was thinking of setting up a few. my room is 5x10 with 1600w. I was thinking maybe 3- 3x3 trays???
 
the turbogardens are 33 x 22 inches each. 25 gallon reservoirs.
They can fit 14 5 inch pots. I run one 600 watter over each one.
I'm thinking of adding one more. With pump and pots included you can get them for about 220.
I added a big air pump and continuous Hanna monitors for each one.

I've grown in dirt, perlite, dwc, and I did one cycle in a CAP ebb and grow. I'm staying with this; it's the hands down winner. Very few moving parts, compact and easy to clean. Yields are great.

If you are growing from clone, the month of veg is just not needed. An extra couple days in the cloner so you have robust root development is the ticket. I originally got one turbogarden with the plan to veg my clones to large size in there while I was finishing others in the ebb and grow. It just eventually occurred to me that I could just finish in the turbogarden and the longer I vegged my plants the more of the plant didn't get enough light and produced popcorn which I hate to trim. A 1000 watter could penetrate further but it costs more to run and I would have to buy it and I'd have to deal with more heat, etc. etc. Even with a 454cfm vortex fan exhausting the lights it gets warmer than I would like, 1000s would be even more of a challenge.

You say that your ppm is this high. Do you use EC? My conversion has 1 tsp FP at only a little over 300ppm. This is why I ask. I thought I was running 800-900ppm feed putting 2tsp Grow, 1.25 pro-tekt /gallon into my soilless mixture. No nute burn so far, but hard to ballpark without ec.

Not a feeding schedule just some kind of bench marks you know. How much do you max out on? What is your limit? We all seem to be at least doubling the recommended doses.

what do you estimate to harvest out of one of your turbos? I might try to add another 6 pots making 24 in the ebb&gro and go with no veg next time. I know what you mean about the trimming of full grown plants.

Not a feeding schedule just some kind of bench marks you know. How much do you max out on? What is your limit? We all seem to be at least doubling the recommended doses.

This is the first time I've used Dyna-gro and the first time I've grown this strain.
I can't rememeber what my PPM's were during veg but I've gone right up to 2000 PPM during mid flowering (week 5 or so) witrhno adverse affects. I've recently taken it down to 1000 PPM since week 8. Again I have had no adverse affects.
But all of this can be strain dependent, growing medium dependent, heat, light, humidity, stage of growth, etc. So none of it matters.

I'm pretty sure that if I ever get it right and put 14 plants in at the same time I'll pull a pound out. I'm about to wind these strains down as I'm cracking some white russian and NLxSkunk seeds, 6 of each. I'll be running the chronic until I have new clones in early October.

Zero veg should work great in the ebb and gro. It's a fine system, I just hated dealing with the tubes. I use the res to collect rainwater now. I've been thinking about how to adapt the controller for an auto-filler for my reservoirs. I barely made it through my ten day vacation earlier this month.
 
i've used dyna-gro grow 7-9-5 and bloom 3-12-6 nute for about a year now. very impressed. by my calculations 1 quart will make 380 to 750 gallons of fertilizer making it one of the more affordable quality (no urea nitrogen) fertilizers available. previously used fox farm nutes -- fox farm produced more but the buds burned harsh...not as clean as dyna-gro buds. i supplement with a high nitrogen fertilizer during veg. if i could get the dyna-gro foliage pro locally i'd add it to the regimen for sure.
 
Here's another look at zero=veg plants running all the dyna-gro line now; grow, bloom, mag-pro and pro-tekt. They are loving life. I had to stake them because they started out a little too tall and now they are ready to break in half!

Do you think it's worth using the Mag Pro and the Pro Tekt? What differences have you noticed?
 
Mag pro is essential because I use RO water. I was using Botanicare Cal-mag plus for the same purpose; to replace the missing Ca and Mg in my RO water. If you have good tap water you wouldn't need that in theory.

As for Protekt, I just got it half way through this batch, so the new clones would be the ones to test that and they are too new to say anything except they are healthy. I'm adding protekt basically as an act of faith. If all the other formulas work so well, why wouldn't you want to add anything those people make? Besides, it's cheap, 39.95 a gallon.

shnkrmn what kind of #'s did you do with the dyna line-up? my first round was a bit dissapointing collecting just 1and 8 off 1600w where with GH 3 part i'd get 2.25 to 2.5. I did flip them about a week or so early so i'm sure that had a little to do with it I'm giving it another round this time going half bloom half mag-pro instead of 15 and 5ml pg it'll be 10 and 10mlpg
 
We might be kind of comparing apples and oranges because of the zero-veg thing, but under 2 600w lights, my last two pulls have been around 11 - 13 ounces with 12 or 13 plants. I don't even think about gram/watt results. Not vegging skews those results pretty heavily in my favor (well, gram/watt/hours skews toward me, anyway), since I'm able to stagger harvests, but my per plant yield is relatively low. That's okay, because I've grown over 100 plants this year (so far).

Next weekend I'm cutting down 13 more plants. They went into flower on Aug 25. Since I used Protekt for the first time all the way through with them, I have some remarks. 1) my stalks are thick and VERY rigid. They don't feel woody, they feel like wood. 2)Yesterday, I found a small colony of mites infesting one small lower bud and a few adjacent leaves on one plant and no others. They've been there for a while; the leaves are so speckled they look white. Here's the thing though. They haven't spread anywhere else. One plant, one spot on the plant. Now Protekt and silica supplements in general are supposed to boost resistance to sucking insect damage by strengthening cell walls, I've always taken that with a grain of salt, but here's an instance where that may be borne out by experience.
