god damn people are really stupid. They will never legalize marijuana. They only chance of them doing that is with mit romney. So give up.

Yes because giving up is a really good plan. If CA would have given up they never would have paved the way for all those other states to legalize medical marijuana.

It'll happen, it'll just take one state (and CA is on the way there) to completely legalize it, they'll rake in a shitload of tax dollars balancing their budget and leaving extra money for politician raises. The other states will follow. It's all about greed.

it would be so smart for the usa to legalize pot. When i was 10 years old i knew atelast 5 dealers. The things i couldnt get easily... alcohol and ciggerets.

Legalizing weed would reduce child usage, encourage dealers to get real jobs and provide better/safer homes for families AND make lots of money for the government if they taxed it. I say around 2015 it will be fully legal. I think within 2 years the biggest punishment for carrying small ammounts will be a small ticket,

thoughts?

You will just piss them off if you email them daily.
Absolutely. All you do when you conduct such guerilla techniques is piss off the staffers. They are paid to work and cannot do so if they must monitor political communications pollution. Make their jobs harder and they will be less likely to be sympathetic to our cause.

These are people just like us just trying to make a living.

It will not effect the target of your message one little bit. He may be told of the messages, but he'll never see the disruption you intend to create in his office.

This is a bad idea.

I think writing to a member of congress is a usually a waste of time. We need to elect people to congress who are sympathetic to our issues. They're not going to change their minds once they've been elected.

Even if they do agree as individuals most often they won't support legalization as it would be frowned upon by most of their peers, jeopardize their career in politics, and loose them numerous perks from competing industries like alcohol, tobacco, paper, wood, plastics, big pharma, etc. Half the country wanting to smoke legally doesn't pay them shit, but those other industries have the money and support to make or break careers.

A heartfelt response from a constituent can make an impression.

Consider the national response to the McCain/Kennedy immigration reform. The people rose up and their elected representatives killed it.

The same thing happened with that U.A.E. port issue.

Not to be abused, feedback from the constituents back home is very important to an elected official.

Uh, what? Are you serious or just young and naieve maybe? They don't read any of their mail, some intern does and they don't really read it either, they just skim it and then the intern sends out canned answer responses based on the common party line or catch phrase of the day.

Massive amounts of activity like mail or whatever is all that really gets noticed, not ever A heartfelt response, and it would have to be a number of activity that clearly shows it's the majority.

Your persuasive style leaves much to be desired.

I said a heartfelt response and I gave examples of what I meant. Do you deny my points about immigration reform and the U.A.E. Ports deal?

All you have are silly insults.

I think it is clear to all the folks at home who is what when it comes down to age/maturity and sophistication.

I didn't insult you. Calling someone Naieve is like calling them ignorant, which is different from calling someone stupid or etc.

You said A hearfelt response and I'm sorry, but you are wrong.

Btw I'm 40 years old and sometimes I feel mature. Ease up on how you take things on an internet forum. You really do sound naieve with that heart felt statement, and a liitle extra sensitive too, but I'm not bashing you for it, just trying to straighten out your misconception.

I don't mean to stomp on your dreams, but it's better to know the truth. The few times heartfelt things have worked in politics is when politicians can get cameras and air time from it to make them look sensitive like you are.

Those other things you meniton generated tons of mail and or phone calls and that's why they were noticed.

That's what I meant by a heartfelt response. My original statement was clear. Jeez!

An insult signifies you ran out of salient points and must rely on an emotional response. You were not complementing me when you wrote 'young and naive.' You know it, I know it, and the folks at home know it.

Save the lecture. You were trying to insult me, but instead you made yourself out as both. LOL! Age is irrelevant here.

Ok I was a little harsh, but jesus...

Fine, if it will make you feel better, I'm sorry. Yes write your hearfelt letter and lets report back on the results.
