Early outdoor forced flowering

Obviously flowering begins with a certain amount of darkness. If one has am outdoor crop in pots, you'd think if you move them indoors at dusk, then returned outside several hours after the sun comes up, you'd be able to flower them out even in the middle of summer.

In talking to several folks at a few nurseries and hydro shops, i was told yes, they will flower, but will not develop nearly as well than if just left to the sun cycles.....veg time and plant size aside.

Anyone have any input or experience as to if this is right?

im currently trying it, but its also new to me, only doin a few plants, however last year sum1 posted pics up around the end of july of his force flowered plants soon to be harvested, and they were very nice. nice thick buds on them, and didnt look bad at all as far as a finishing plant is concerned. i believe ppl think it wont be as good bc in flower, cannabis likes red spectrum light, blue in veg. so during summer its more of a blue spectrum which isnt optimal but also isnt impossible, ive seen some pretty nice lookin cfl plants, and if thats possible, i beleive a plant can delelop well under the summer sun. but again this is theory for me, i wont truly know how they go until i get there.quite a few ppl attempting force flowering this year, lots of threads about it poppin up

you need to sun shade for instance cover plants at at 9 at night and uncover at 9 in the morn they will get 12/12 and flower

spectrum matters... but it doesn't I've seen good nugs grown with an MH. Although I still personally MH veg and HPS flower.

ANyways Maybe instead of picking up the plant and hauling it around risking breaking branches and stuff, find a big trashcan to put over it.

Light deprivation is the obvious choice but I've come across a technique that may allow harvesting about 2-4 weeks sooner in the season than usual. I'll write more on it at the beginning of next season. Imo its worth doing to one or two of your personal plants. If you put your clone in a one gallon pot around may.

Put bone meal on the bottom of your pot, mix with soil, and allow the plant to get rootbound. That will be about mid june to early July. It will be flowering at this point. Use only water during this whole time. By repotting into fresh soil after the rootbind it will start to reveg for only a couple weeks before it realizes that nights are getting longer. Because flowering was recently triggered due to higher phosphorous in the bone meal, the plant will be more sensitive to photoperiod. Time it just right and you can harvest a lot of your October strains in September. I think it will be particularly useful for getting your sativas harvested before rain and mold become an issue. I still do not know how it affects yields fully but my early flowering sativa is the biggest of my plants. I should get at least two oz. which is plenty for me especially from an early plant.

You dont necessarily have to take it inside. I have covered plants with black trash bags and refrigerator boxes before and that did the trick.

With my technique you need no bags, cans, or daily labor. Alaskan Ice, tallest top is 36 inches with about 6 main stalks, and a couple dozen budding sites on each stalk.

i find it easier to grow to 2 pluse feet. in doors under 24-7. and put out end of july. as soon as the start geting less then 24 flowering starts. and then picks up. mid august when the light natural starts going backwards. i only do this with 6 plants it would be hard to do with anymore then that. or anything any larger. gwet about 4 z a plant.

I am actually manually hauling the ladies inside at 6pm to start their dark cycle. Then I wake up every day at 6am and proceed to haul them back outside to dtart the light cycle again.

Been doing this for 5 weeks now and the buds appear to be developing just fine. Sorry I cannot post any pictures of them at the moment, but I let a few go untopped and topped a few and they are all doing just fine.

Expect them to be done near the end of August or early September.

eep us up to date. Theoretically at some point to should be able to leave them out. With the gradually decreasing light and the buds late enough in flower to want to finish they can be fine. If I had the time and will that you have, I would leave one plant in the elements to confirm the technique.

I have one plant that I am not moving indoors to force flowering. Once she starts showing signs of flowering I was planning on letting all the other ladies just sit outside and ride it out to harvest. Do you guys think there is a problem with this plan?

That sounds safe but Myroaches and me think you can just leave them out now and they'll finish.

Here are some pictures of where I am at right now:
View attachment 2289601IMG_20120809_183116.jpgIMG_20120809_184757.jpg
The first two are plants that I forced to flower early, they were about a foot when I started the flowering cycle and they grew up to about two feet (One month Veg./~1.5 month flower)
The third is the plant that I have not moved inside. I've been letting it have vegetative growth for as long as my region will offer. (2.5 month Veg./looks like it's getting close to flower)
Once the plant in pic three starts flowering I was planning on moving all the other ladies outside to join in on the flower party.

I've learned that a longer veg. cycle makes quite the difference, haha.

I have done this the past 3 seasons. Currently 2 weeks away from harvest myself. I manually bring them in myself aswell. I work at 5am everymorning anyways. WHat I do though is get them out before the sunrises then sunrise becomes your natural timer. I leave them out for 12 hours then move them into a small shed (with no light leaks). Every week or so I adjust the times accordingly to the sunrise. Nice thing about this is that if you dont feel like waking up, you can take them out the night before (once its dark) and let the sunrise do its thing.

Its still a serious chore though. Hauling out 10 five footers every morning / night. Can only really grow them so big for that reason lol. For me because im so far north its the only really viable way of maximizing my chances at a good harvest that actually finishes.

All 3 times though it has produced very very nice tight buds as it finishes in the nice hot months of summer.
