My first thought is caterpillars but I don’t know much about the situation to confirm it . Or it could be another leaf right on top of it rubbing against it.:weed:

I always heard that if the top part of pistols turn brown that a male spewed on them and pollinated them. Idk if that's the case just sharing what I heard.

When only the tips of the pistils brown , it usually from Pollination...as other causes typical turn the whole pistil brown , so i guess you'll see.

Depending on the wind or stage of flower, plants being pollenated can come from upwind anywhere
Just because all aren’t doesn’t mean some aren’t,some can be a slower plant maturity…pheno …
Hopefully not in your case but it happens
