You should check out some training methods to get your plants near the same height, so that each plant benefits equally well from your light, rather than one plant benefiting while the others do not.
Also, you really shouldn't take off the bottom third of your plant. If your reflection and indirect light is good, then you won't need solely rely on a canopy. You are getting rid of a considerable amount of bud by getting rid of the bottom third of your plant. If you kept that bottom third healthy and gave it sufficient light you would end up with bigger nugs all around.
