Earth Day

Just wondering how many people will be shutting down their grow rooms in honor of Earth day?

In fact, now that I think about it, isn't running an indoor grow room one of the most non eco-friendly things a person can do? I can't imagine one could call one's self and environmentalists while having a grow room.

Anyone care to comment?

Well, I see your point but if you are buying commercial pot you are supporting a vast network of organized crime where people are murdered everyday. Also, one needs to realize that commercial weed doesn't get to where it's going without somebody transporting it there. That's fuel cost. Depending on where it comes from and the end destination those fuel costs could be significant. We won't go into how commercial pot is treated. A lot of chemical ferts, probably pesticides. Perhaps it's not very eco-friendly growing indoors but it sure beats the alternative IMO. :eyesmoke:

Or you could just give up smoking weed.

another thread started by rick white to attack something from the left...

*yawn.

And yet another flaccid reply from red, making incorrect assumptions. I guess you think "earth day" and "environmental concern" are the sole propriety of the left. You couldn't be more wrong. "Junk Science" and "Destructive Evironmental Lunacy" are indeed all yours buddy.

However, most of us conservatives are all for clean energy and fighting pollution, we just believe in achieving those goals with a logical and compassionate approach. Something the Enviroloons on the left can't identify with at all. They grab on to any "perceived" threat to the environment, ignore any opposing facts and data, and set out to solve the "problem" with a machete rather than a scapel. And of course, with no compassion or thought about the millions of lives that may be ruined or ended as a result of their hairbrained rush to action. DDT, spotted owl, the entire anti nuclear plant movement, etc etc (far far too many to list, but you get the point).

But you keep grabbing at straws, we'll just sit back and chuckle like parents waiting for a child to finish his tantrum.

The point, for those who don't get it, is that environmentalists are quick to point the finger at everyone else, but when it comes to the things they enjoy it is a different story.

They are all for windmills - just not where THEY can see them.

They are all for taking away people's SUVs.

But question the environmental impact of running a grow room and it is a whole other story. See, now we are talking about something they like.

Funny thing is, we see the double standard and they don't. It's called cognitive dissonance.

I could..............but I won't.:eyesmoke: I could give up watching TV, using a computer, driving a car, using electric lights, etc. I'll make a deal with you. If you can come up with something that can relieve the chronic pain I deal with everyday due to my crushed vertebrae, I will stop smoking weed. It has to be as safe as or safer than weed. I use compact fluro's in most of my lights in my house. I recycle and do the re-useable grocery bags. I turn off the lights when I leave a room. My wife and I both drive very fuel efficient vehicles (no gas guzzling SUV's here). I try to do my part. What I don't do is go around criticizing everybody else for not being as "earth friendly" as me. We could all do a better job.

I see your point about the double standard. Unfortunately, this is just human nature. We are an incredibly egocentric species. Some of us are worse than others but we are all guilty of it. bongsmilie

Not exactly a tree-hugger to begin with, but burning some extra coal for my grow room sure beats going to jail...

Agreed. And I'm not into funding violence via the black market. If I could grow outdoors, I would. It's simply not an option for me. :leaf:

i have been saving stems from these purple sugar kush plants.
they are stems about 18 inches long.
i was gonna go get some $1 stickers at the dollar store and
sell hemp-stem back scratchers to hippies for a dollar.
then i decided it was too risky and all the stems went to a nice dumpster somewhere.
but i bet i coulda made enough for a new bowl for my bong!

This thread is a hoot. Nobody can see their own double standards.

I am proud to say I am consistently politically incorrect on the issue. I couldn't give a flying fuck about burning more electricity or about a guy who needs a Hummer to tow his big ass twin big block, blower motor off shore racer.

It's just funny when you make things a practical matter that affects Liberals they make excuses. It's typical really, they want to solve the world's problems with the other guys money and they want the other guy to change his lifestyle to conserve but when it comes to them it's a different story.

A damn 5 year old can see the problem with this way of thinking.

To be fair Rick, I think it's a human problem, not a left vs. right problem. ;-)

Here's george carlin making the same point. Unlike rick he's funny...

Of course a lot of environmentalism is ridiculous, but there's nothing wrong with trying to limit and mitigate our impact on nature...
