What kind of IPM did you use?
It's been a couple of grows since I used SIPs... my recollection is that it will depend on the medium you use, the depth of your soil, and the size of your wick(s). If your soil is loose and deep, then uncovering it might dry the top couple of inches enough to disrupt the gnats life-cycle. Inversely if your medium is dense and shallow and your wicks large (capacity), then the top might stay damp, in which case I believe sealing off the top with the "shower cap" or something similar should also disrupt their cycle... I believe they mate above ground? Not positive about that, but I think if you trap them in the soil they can't produce another generation (and their lifespans are pretty short). Maybe someone else can confirm or correct me on that.@Humanrob and @Lightgreen2k
Good to hear from other sips growers
What did you guys do about fungus gnats. I just put in some nematodes and sticky paper two days ago. I don't want to use any chemicals I only want organic. I just got the nematodes in the mail so I hope the cold didn't kill them.
I am also doing this, Epsom foliar is a must, I'm starting to see that my gg also had a mag issue.First pic is my two earth boxes.
Second is my leaf on one plant that I think is a magnesium deficiency, I added some Epsom salt yesterday
The third pic is my temp and humidity.
Any questions or comments would be appreciated.
yup, Awesome Thread for sureThe sip thread contains plenty of info:

I used mycotrol wettable powder, that helps alot with fungus gnats.@Humanrob and @Lightgreen2k

Nematodes will kill them put a layer of perilite on top at least two inches thick. Then nematodes will work the top of the soil better and kill the little bastards. Mosquito dunks or bti along with what I said will stop em just takes timeA lot of the things people have been suggesting aren't available in Canada.
