easy auto strains and ventilation!

Hi all,

This will be my first ever grow so am looking for a few pointers. I have a cupboard in my house which I have halved to make the dimensions approx 85x85x120cm. I have painted it all white. The top half of the cupboard is still in use. I just wandered what sort of light I should use for 4 autos. I would like to use a 400hps as I can get it in a set with the soil, nutes, pots etc for cheaper. The problem I have is with ventilation. It is a cupboard in my upstairs hallway so I wont be able to get a extractor fan as Id like. Will a 400w hps be too hot for this size of room and also any advice on how to go about ventilation. I need to be fairly discreet as I have kids (they are older and do know I smoke, but would still rather they didnt know i was growing). I will post pics soon to give a better idea. I really want to get growing asap, but dont want to start till ive got everything spot on.

I will be using biobizz light mix with their nutes in 11l pots. Any suggestions on good autos for a first grow? I want to try a few different strains so I can compare yield/potency etc. I have thought of a few strains and reasons:

1x Afghan Kush Ryder- Potent but not great yielding
1x Auto Critical Mass- High yielding but less potent
1x Northern Lights Auto- Fairly decent yield and potency, somewhere between other 2!
1x BB Cheese Automatic- I just love Cheese, no other reason !

I think these strains are suitable for beginners with the kush probably slightly harder. Should I just stick to 1 strain, if so which one? Any input/ideas/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Ok heres a few pics of the cupboard. As you can see the door opens on to my hallway so i dont know where to take in or extract air. I thought about using ducting to the top inside of the cupboard, but then I would need to cut a hole in the roof. I suppose its possible but where would i draw in air from?



Any suggestions would be great so I can get kicked off. So many of my friends are telling me different options and I dont know the best solution. I just want a quick first grow with little hassle but still good results. Another reason why I chose autos!

Anyway need to go as Im off to pick up a 1/4 of amnesia haze!

Ive decided Im just gonna wait and get a full tent kit with extractor etc after christmas. Still gonna do autos I think tho. I was thinking to get a nft205i hydro system aswell instead of soil. Do autos take well to hydro?

Also just got a bag of widow x cheese. Anyone else tried it? It looks like widow (maybe a bit frostier!) but tastes like cheese! Nice smoke. Anyway off to have a bong!
