Depends on a few things

How many plants?
How much space do you have to play with?
How much money do you have to invest?

I started with no knowledge at all and i used EBB & FLOW and it has been very reliable. You can set up for one plant or 1000 and you can do it on a budget.

You don't even really need the dripper. I just built a simple ass DWC with a bucket, a net pot (designed to fit the bucket) filled with hydroton, an airstone & pump, and an aquarium heater. The dripper would be nice because you don't need to watch water levels as much, but you can just keep the water level at the roots and you're ok.

Sweet, I didn't realize I'd need the heater though. Room temp isn't ok?

I'm gonna start slow, just get my feet wet and lean a bit before I spend a lot of cash. I like soil but wanna experiment a bit. Start off with a few plants, like 4 maybe. Space isn't a problem. Thanks for the help.

Sometimes, you actually need a chiller to cool the water, depending on your situation. If you use a 5 gallon bucket, you won't need a very big heater. I use a 50w.

im brand spankin new at hydro and im using the dwc rubbermaid method... it seems simple enough.. just make sure you got everything before you germinate the kids... balance your pH in the rockwool b4 you put the seeds in there

I'd have to say that this is the only hydro setup I can think of that any idiot can do.

Anything more than this Aerogarden takes work.....Alot of work.
When I say work I mean mostly cleaning, I spend about 1-3 hours a week in just cleaning.
Hydro gardening is not for everyone. It's takes alot of attention to detail. You can't miss anything or put off anything till the next day.
You must check your PH and PPm levels.
You have to replenish your resevoirs everyday due to evaporation.
Everyday sometimes twice a day you have to check on your grow, to make sure everything is working correctly.
If one thing fails, it'll break down the environment and either stress your plants or even kill'em.

So basically if your a 24/7 stoner I'd recommend that you stay with soil growing.

Soil doesn't yield as much as Hydro. If growing auto flowers, hydro would be supreme IMO. Because since also flowers have a defined vegging period that can't be controlled I would think that it would better to grow in hydro because they will grow bigger during their 2 weeks of vegging and that will be a bigger harvest. If growing photo period strains in soil, it won't matter if they grow slower because you can always veg them longer. With autos you can't, so why not get as much growth as you can in the small time they veg...HYDRO would be the way to go..it takes more work and more learning, but hey, nice harvest come at a cost
