Awesome tutorial! I'm going to try this with my next harvest. Quick question, does it matter if the material is frozen or not? Does it have to be dry? I usually keep mine in the freezer and have made cannabutter the last 2 harvests' but I've been wanting to try hash making again.

Fresh works great for waterhash but is very bad for iso.
Always thoroughly dry yer material before doing iso.
I don't freeze it but try it both ways and see if it makes a diff then let me know.

taint I was trying to do my hash but where can I find some silk screen??? Do I have to buy it over the internet or do stores sell it??

I haven't done a large batch but it seems easier to manipulate the hash after production if you pu it in the freezer for a bit. Just my tip! Nice thread Taint.

Another is to not touch it if yer smoking it in a pipe,instant gooey mess that's really funny to watch when it's someone else.

why do you say fresh trim (undried) is bad? because of all the chlorophyll or is there another reason?

Mainly due to the chlorophyll but it's fine for water hash.

well all i had around was a bit of fresh trim that was in some tupperware in my freezer for my next water hash run. and by all i mean ALL so i decided to try to make a quick batch of this while waiting for my next crop to finish out. I know you said to use dry and i completely understand the reasoning but i'm in a bit of a pinch for meds. I also read a few other posts on the subject and watched some youtube vids and it seems most of them were adding some sort of heat source to speed up the process. Well i thought hey i'm out of bud and could use a quick turnaround time on this. let me tell you I will never do that again. all was well at first, i was putting the pan i drained the iso to over the stove burner for a few seconds until i heard a small sizzle then i was taking it off the burner and moving to an open window and sloshing the iso around in the pan. i quickly diminished the amount of liquid in the pan to about 1/4 of what i started with. I got a little cocky and left it over the burner a few seconds too long, turns out iso doesn't boil it goes straight from liquid to fire lol. It surprised me a little but i quickly turned the burner off and threw a dish towel over the pan to smother the flames, disaster averted, all eyelashes and facial hair intact, just a bruised ego and a little bit of regret that i didn't take your advice. from now on there will be no heat and i will just have to wait a few days for it to evaporate naturally by the fan. I want to say, before anyone else does, that I was very stupid to ignore your clear and direct order to NEVER use heat and for that I apologize. Otherwise thank you very much taint for this awesome tutorial and I can't wait to see what its going to turn out like even with the chlorophyll of the fresh frozen trim, and the next batch (super lemon hazes come down in a couple weeks) I will dry the trim, freeze half and leave half unfrozen to determine which produces the best tasting, the best yield per gram of trim, and best looking hash.

Glad yer uninjured and the house is still intact.............................pretty funny story though.
I put it under a semi strong fan and it's usually evapped within 24 hours,do try and ventilate the room it's in.
We don't want anymore incidents.
Good luck and let me know how it turns out,I assume yer using good screens because without them it's all kinda pointless.

The reason for not using heat,aside from matts' nearly tragic experience is that heat degrades thc.
Just wanted to add that tidbit,after 86F I think is when it begins to degrade.

I never heard that before.
Is that a scientific fact or an old old wives tale?
Not saying it's not or you're wrong. Just never heard it degrades the THC before.

I've been making oil for years with iso.
I use hot water in a pot with the iso in a stainless steel bowl sitting on top of that pot of hot water on an electric burner on low heat.
Takes a few hours to burn off.
I would change the way of makin it if it affects the potency even a small amount.

That is my understanding,nothing to back it up except that's how I learned it long ago...............
