ebb and flow setup - from a reforming dirt user

I've become interested in setting up a small grow (4x4) and am new to hydroponics. I have a fair amount of experience growing in dirt tables (SOG), but wanted to move on and try something new. I have been looking over systems, and I'm not sure what is right for me, a flood table or an ebb and flow system. What I am looking for in a system is something that is easy to maintain, and be easy to access. The tables seem to fit the bill but I don't look forward to dumping out a large resevoir. On the other hand, ebb and flow systems seem to have less plant sites (most I see in that area range are 6 or 8 plants). My rule of thumb in the past has always been a min of 1lb for a light, but hopefully better. What sort of setup is best for the same result? The ebb and flow is appealing as it would be a lower number of plants to manage, but would I have to veg them for more than a week? In dirt SOG setups I was vegging for 3 days before flipping, but with 6-8 plants i assume this would be 7-10 days min? This will be under a 1000w. Any insight?

well , you sure don't need to make three posts in 10 minutes for help.
I grow using flood trays. Please check out my sig and and my grows. Lots of good notes in there.

sorry if it posted multiple times, i was receiveing an error when posting and didnt see it post, not as frantic as it seems lol

Hey dude.

I'm not sure what you mean between flood table and ebb and flow system. Every ebb and flow system i've ever used has a flood table.

Do you mean the ebb/flow BUCKETS? IMHO I think the bucket systems are better for growing fewer big plants (4+ foot range) while tables are best suited for SOG or midrange plants.

Flood table: Easier to move things around. Less parts. No float valve to mess up. (CAP controllers are notorious for failure). Res changes are easy. just use a pump and 1/2" hose.

Bucket systems: Can support bigger plants. Have the ability to be configured for vertical lighting. I dont trust control buckets though...whatever ya choose, good luck.
