Ebb and Flow without media?

Has anybody done a flood table without media and just had plants suspended in a cover with a net cup with neoprene collar? How many times did you flood? Is it better to have a bit of media in the net cup? Thanks in advance for any info.

I dunno-- what would the roots 'hold-on" to? What keeps them from drying out between floodings?
Don't the tube systems also have top drips or bottom misters to keep that from happening?

what do the roots hold onto ?
nothing , they sit in the tube happily enough , as long as there light tight there happy

well.............. from a world of experience anyone in the hydroponic world will bore you to tears about oxygen and roots , the simple explanation is roots revel in a mixture of water and oxygen and a process of washing water across them and allowing roots to then uptake air is the very explanation of why hydroponics can produce more yield than traditional growing methods , the plants more than enjoy the ebb and flow of food and air , they never dry out completely , you run them on a 15 minutes on and 15 off

nope , food is spat into 1 end and drops out the other back to the rez , the flowing of the water creates humidity that maintains good root life between the netpot and the tubes the roots settle in

Thanks for the reply. That is a ton of flooding to do. I my just got with the grow stones and square pots. I was hoping I would be able to do it without flooding more than 5 times at peak flower. Is that possible without the use of media?

Stop draining it, throw in some airstones and you have a dwc setup.

I have a big UC system but I'm trying a ebb and flow system also. Don't want to turn it into a dwc.
