Ebb and Grow Questions

So I've been reading these forums for a while now and I've decided to finally try growing for myself! I've read up on a lot of the growing systems, and have decided to use the ebb and grow system in combination with led lighting. Even though I've been combing the long ebb and grow thread, I still haven't figured out a couple of things. Using the ebb and grow system, roughly how many plants can you have in a 4' by 4' space, considering the size when they're about to be harvested. It seems like the average is 12, but can you fit more in if you space things differently? And considering the size near harvest, would 12 fit in a 4' by 4' space. Also, what are the water needs per plant during each of the phases? More specifically, how much of an impact does changing the duration of the fill time really have?

Really excited for the ebb and grow system to come in and finally try my hand at this!

Which system did you buy? You could MAYBE fit 12 plants during veg, but unfortunately you'll never come close to fitting 12 plants in a 4x4 area while in full bloom. They won't receive the light they need and will be way more susceptible to disease such as powdery mildew. They would be miserable in that tiny area. The only way I see that working is if you used the "sea of green method", but don't expect a large yield, just quicker turn around cycles

I put 12 buckets (tightly) in my 4 x 8 (bloom) which is twice the size of yours. Realistically, I wouldn't put more than 6 in there and that's pushing it.

I water every 4 hours for 20 mins and change my res every Monday... Oh shit- Today is Monday!

I bought the cap ebb and grow system with the 12 buckets with optional future attachments, just in case I got good and wanted to expand it haha.
Using this system, and growing the plants to around 4 feet tall before harvest, I would need a space that's 4' by 8'?

I had ebb n flow 2gal containers and they were spread out in 8x4 tent... i would do 8 most in a scrog.

Another quick question I have is, does anyone know the electricity usage of the cap ebb and grow system?

If you're gong to veg until they are 4 feet all you'll end up with 6-8 foot plants. That's not gonna happen in a 4x8 tent. You MIGHT be able to fit 3-4 plants that size, and you'd have to train the hell out of em to stay low.
Get a 4x8 tent to use all 12 buckets, and flower them around a foot, maybe 1.5 feet. You'll come out pretty good.
I've got a grow of 14 plants in a 4x8 tent in my signature if you want to see how crowded things can get. 2 of the plants really didn't do anything so figure it as 12.

5 or 6 plants in a 4x4 area is best.


Buy a 4x8 tent if you plan to run more than 6 or you'll regret it.
Especially if you think you're going to veg them until they are 4 feet tall, lol.
Stick to around a foot.

Sorry, I wasn't really clear, I meant with vegging and budding complete, like right before harvest the plants are 4 feet.

I put 25 clones (no veg time) into my 3'x 3' x 7"h flood and drain table filled with a mixture of lava rock and hydroton. I skirt a 6'x 6' area around my table with reflective plastic. As they get bigger the plants can be tipped outward by the roots when the table (plantpot) is flooded instead of tieing down with string...LST

That's still pretty big. In a 4x4 tent with 6 plants I'd shoot for 2 foot plants at harvest. ScrOG Them. That's probably the best advice I can give you. Put a screen about 1 foot above your buckets. When one branch starts sticking up more than the others, just tuck it back under the screen, and move it to the next square/space to keep it even with the rest of the cannopy. Keep stretching the shoots to fill in the screen and keep everything nice and even. Flower when the screen is about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way full. Try to keep the cannopy close to the screen for at least the first two weeks of flower.
You'll pull A LOT if you run a ScrOG.

My third grow netted me over 5lbs in a 4x8 grow tent with 14 plants, and 2200 watts of HPS. Over 1gpw.
I'll never run more than 12 again. Like I said before, 2 didn't get enough light, didn't yield much and were just swallowed by the other plants.
I wouldn't worry about packing in as many plants as you can. If you run a plant or so less you'll end up with larger, more dense colas, and less fluffy shit.

I flood every 1.5 hours for 15 minutes throughout the entire grow.

Yes, at least.

Just curious why you chose LED and not MH/HPS? The technology is cool, but 10 yrs from where it should be, IMO
