Have a botanicare perp gard, ebb/ flow. coco / bubbler in resv. (25gl)
1000w HPS/ 24hrs/0
Nutes: TriFlex + Sweet + Cannazym + Liquid Karma
RoomTemp: constant 69F
plants are a month old. 1-2ft. and getting crowded. getting really crowded.

right now it 3hrs off/ 15min on for the water schedule and he plants are Perky, Awesome and GREEN.

This morning I turned the lights off to induce flowering. im going to leave them off for 24hrs. then 12/12.

BUT. should my water schedule change? like less frequently during the dark/ "nite". or should I just leave all alone.

when i bought the set-up and texashydo (local) they told me to have it 2hrs of/ 15min on. Everything was growing swell. but they were droopy. so I just tried it at 3hrs off and they look perky, and the roots are coming out of the pots on bbtm.:hump: so i guess just experiment.

it also depends on your medium.

Exactly, it depends on your medium, and how much water it holds. Pots of rocks will hold a little and rockwool slabs will hold a lot.

If it's working at 3 hours, then leave it. Water the first time 1 hour after lights on, and the last time 2 hours before lights off. How often you water in between those depends on temp and humidity, and size of plants, and medium. Never water during lights off.

If you have your lights on for 15 hrs and off for 3 whats going on the other 6 hrs?you got a strobe light going during tht time? Are you in your closet flickerng the lights on and off those 6 hrs?Is there some sort of time continueum going on those 6 hrs? PLEASE verify I would love to know how that works? If you ask me....id say NO its not very effective at all lol maybe 18 on 6 off or 20 on 4 off

if you are flowering lights should be 12/12 i run water in my ebb's every 4 hours (only when lights are on) for 30 min starting first watering as soon as the lights kick on and this continues every 4 hours. now when the lights are off i run one watering once right in the middle of the 12 hour dark period another words 6 hours after lights out and this is only to ensure roots dont dry out. plants dont need water/nutes at night they only need them when they are producing photosynthesis witch is only when they have light.
hope this helps.

If you read the thread from the beginning , they are talking about FEEDING/WATER cycles. Not light cycles.

It depends on your setup. But a few basic principles you must grasp;
1-Don't water at Night..Plants don't need it!
2- Everyone's setup is a little different; I'm growing on a flood table with 4 inch rockwool blocks; I water drip and flood 5 mins 3 times a day; once in first hour and 2 hrs before lights out (on 12/12) and once in the middle
This is possible because rockwool holds moisture for a long time
I'm also using a coco mat on the table , so the roots are really never dry.
If you have a different system you will need some adjustments
Watch your plants...they will tell you what's OK
3- different strains act differently...You must learn your strains

Be patient..keep on growin' you will learn lots if you watch your plants carefully and TAKE NOTES.;if you screw up you will be able to figure out why, and improve with each grow.

I flood from rooted clone 6 times a day on 4x4 tables with supersoil aerator stones inside 36x 5'' or 6'' pots that simply sit right on top of the root mat arranged in rows of 6 and then covered by a sheet of poly I cut 36 5'' holes into so the only thing exposed on top is a very small amount of the supersoil stone aerators. If you sit your pots on top of a bed such as cocoa or something that's gonna hold a shitload of water you probably want to do less than 6 floods and quicker than 15 minutes, or just fewer in general if your timers only do 15 min intervals.

I find that it's extremely hard to over-water or under-water using this setup! I had a pump timer fail on me once and didn't catch it for 24 hours.. I thought everything would be dead and dried up for sure, but underneath that trusty $50 4x4 root mat was moisture and beads of water all along the roots.

Try to keep your reservoir cover lid on so the nutes aren't exposed to light, and if possible get a chiller for it so the temperature of your 25gal nutes is lower than ambient room temperature like 65-75 degrees F.. I'm still learning myself trying to do some extreme dial'ing in of strains in search of the best sog from clone strain.

I've pulled males off the table and threw them in a dark closet before and they're still alive after 4-5 days of complete darkness, even with exposed roots just busting out the sides of pot..
