(EBB & Flow/DWC) (Fox Farm Trio & Salts) White Window/Skunk #1

Hey everyone I'm back at it! I have finally got around to rebuilding and have decided to go a completely different way with things this time around. I've learned alot since the sudden death of my last crop :wall:, but still have much information to absorb. I've have decided to invest in quality products because of the mechanical failure that destroyed my grow in the past. I plan to grow 2 feminized white widow seeds, and two skunk #1 (In hopes that one is a female) for my medical benefit of course.

My current setup:
Reverse Osmosis Machine & Water
Grow Tent
4 Site EBB & Flow/DWC Hydroponic System (Do it yourself)
600 Watt HPS/MH Grow Light w/ Cool Tube
Tall Boy Carbon Filter w/ High Velocity Fan
Fox Farm Trio
Fox Farm Salt's Trio

Plant 1 - White Widow - 2 Weeks Old
Could someone please help me with the deficiency it's having? I thought at first it was magnesium because of the RO water but now I'm not sure. I've noticed Grow Big, and Big Bloom have a bit of MG in them, but not a lot at all. I've added epson salts at 1 TSP/GAL to the 30 gallon res two days ago to correct it but haven't seen improvement. Fox Farm Liquid Trio was also added at half strength recommended by there hydro grow chart at the beginning of the week. (Week 2) I've also decided to foliar feed with epsion salts to no avail.

I'm not a big expert but have you tried just flushing the entire system with ph corrected water(I believe its between 5.7-6.4 for hydro) and starting with a lower nute regime after your flush has shown some improve in the lil ones. I'm still learning about this as I'm going along but that might help... and btw nice plants minus the nute burn :bigjoint:.

Hey thanks a lot! I pretty much figued it was a burn. (I think the burn might be from me not flushing though) because I only put half strength nutes. I thought I could get away with not PHing reverse osmosis water because it should be 6.0 out of the purifier correct? I actually started to flush 12 hours ago for the first time with just RO water I might have to every week as a regimin. How long should I flush for 24 hours?

Your welcome. As far as an in-depth answer for your questions I'm not a 100 percent sure because I know nothing about Reverse Osmosis lol, but I say just keep flushing until they return back to their normal green color. then start back at 1/4th nute strength. BTW never follow the feeding regime on the box those are for grows like roses and stuff. From my readings I was always told to start off with 1/4th and gradually build. um I recommend reading: http://www.420magazine.com/forums/deep-water-culture-dwc/111069-deep-water-culture-tutorial-sh-kit-diy.html it doesn't go over ebb & flow but its still alot of useful info in there. Hope this helps

Okay cool good link! I've filled my 30 gal res with RO water, and nothing but 1 TSP/GAL Epson Salts for the possible magnesium/calcium deficiency and I'm gonna wait it out. I've mixed week 2 nutes again but haven't added them at 50% strength (They should be fine with week 2 at 50% they actually should be on week 3 so will see.) Can brown damaged leaves recover to green? If so how long does it normally take?

Yes they can and it just depends. One thing I've learned is nature is amazing and ALMOST anything is possible. just wait it out and continue to watch the grass grow lol. If u can help that would be great. Did your seedlings ever have one of the cotyledon leaves still folded over and the other unfolded? Ill post pics in my grow journal if u want to see them.

Yeah, nature is pretty amazing! Also about your leaves, mine turned yellow and fell off. I believe cotyledon leaves always remove themselves after the plant begins to grow. It's possible overwatering if other leaves run into problems.

Well today I've added 50% nutrients from the week two Fox Farm Schedule and Epson Salts at 1/TSP Gal after flushing the root zone with RO water for 30 some hours. I pruned off leaves that I believe were beyond repair. (To see if I corrected the nute burn this time around) (Only a couple fan leaves on the bottom, nothing that should effect the overall quality of my yield) I plan on FIM'ing and was wondering if shes ready? I've never done it before but have heard great results with it.

Hey everyone I just did my first FIM and was wondering if this looked right. Also heres a growth update since I believe this will be an important day to look back on and examine the new growth from FIM.

Well I believe the ww is showing signs of growth and improvement. I purchased Cal-Mag and I'm adding it in with the fox farm trio at 1.25/ML Pr. Gal. I'm also using Advanced Nutes 100% PH Down to control my levels I'm at about a 5.70 at the moment. Also I'm flushing this batch of water a couple days early because I didnt like the funky smell it was giving off also the PH was very hard to get stable even after putting the Cal-Mag in the RO water first and also I had a bit of nute burn on the outside older fan leaves. (I flushed my RO membrane for this batch) I'll let her sit in ph'ed/cal mag RO water for 24 hours, then possibly add more veg nutes with a few ff salts at 1/2 recommend or, I may start flowering! (When do you guys think it would be a good time? I heard these things can triple in size even though this plant seems to have a dominate indica bushy type dna.) I'll post some pics later tonight!

Like promised heres the growth update pics. I believe this is week 4 of veg and this will probably be the last week before flowering (Seen female pre-flowers close to where i FIM'ed! ) I used 5.82 PH'ed RO water. 1.25/ML GAL of Cal-Mag, 1.5 ML of Big Bloom & Grow Big /Per gal, 1/4 Tsp Per Gal Open Sesame in a 30 gallon res. I also pulled off a few nute burt fan leaves that were old and barely getting any light. I feel as if they served no purpose, but correct me if I'm wrong. Also the carbon filter had to get turned on today shes got a strong smell through veg. I expect a double in size after this week. FIM'ing caused a decent amount of stress on this plant and it took time to recover. The growth was slown but not horribly. The top after two days recovered quite quickly and created new sets of leaves/nodes. I'll be setting up me custom made PVC scrog tomorrow!

Well everyone heres tonights update! The plant is getting bulky and wide as hell, so tomorrow will be the first day of 12/12. I've already replaced the metal halide bulb with the HPS and mixed my nutes. Below you can view my first week mix with growth updates! I know it's hard to really estimate but if this thing doubles in size you think I could pull 3-4 os off it?

5.8 PH
35 Gallons RO Water
1/Tsp/Gal Tiger Bloom
2/Tsp/Gal Grow Big
2/Tsp/Gal Big Bloom
.25/Tsp/Gal Open Sesame
2/Tsp/Gal Cal Mag
1/Tsp/Gal Epson Salts

Dude they have gotten alot bigger and look awesome just like u say lol! As far as 3 oz-4 oz idk because I'm still new but its quite possible if she's that bushy. Can't wait til she starts to flower and really stink up the place lol

Thanks yours have been looking good to! I figured they would take off week 5, because week 4 was pretty much the plants growth being stunned at the top from the FIM. It gave time for the under shoots to head towards the light though so I can't complain. This seed has always been a very fast growing pheno type. The plant even at week 2 was looking better then some I've seen at 4. Hopefully it triples in size and I get a some weight off her.

Well I woke up today and checked the tent and I'm satisfied! She's definitely shown her sex after the first day of 12/12. (Hard to see in the picture, but theres two little orange hairs coming out of the pastils.) I thought people said this is very rare? Anyway heres a picture! I suspect the purple stem is from an MG deficiency or PH lockout, as for some reason I had a huge swing in ph today by a whole number. I fixed the PH to around 5.6-5.8 and added a bit more epsion salts and cal mag.

Me either medicated! Anyway everyone I got bored today and made a quick little LST setup. Basically I just made a square, drilled holes in the wood every two inches and made it level with the hight if the bucket the secured the branches with craft wire. You can check it out below. I've never tried this before and did the best I could does it look right?
