EBB&FLOW Flush

Hi,

I have a couple questions.

Using Clay balls, how often should I water?

I was doing once every hour and they were ok and then one day I left the pump on the whole day and they exploded. so I changed to 15 on 15 off while lights on.

Second question is I have 2 strains in one container
When do I flush, one is 7 week one is 8-9 weeks
How do I flush?

This is the first grow that has made it this far.
Thanks in advance.

Good news on making it this far.
The flush is done with plain water, figure out the last 2 weeks of flower and change the tank.
15 minute on is good,1or 2 times lights on.
For me,I am just using 1 bottle and a little calmag...FlorNovaBloom.55 bucks a gallon.

No need to flush. You should slowly be walking the ppms down after maxing out around week 4-5

Jesus Christ thank you for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

follow directions on any bottled nutrients, they instruct to zero out nutrients, when, how much, and you should already know why.

anyway, I loved my flood/drains. I watched to see how long it took to rise up near the top of the drain and that became my set sec/min for that cycle. I did that 3x during lights on only.
I'd still be using them but made the mistake of growing one of my beloved in a bucket of dirt with a handful of organicare ferts at the same time.......the rest is history.

I run all different times and if temps in room are higher than 75 I find keeping the pump running 24/7 works well but I typically run 15 on 15 off, water is chilled. When first dropping rooted cuttings in the trays I only flood 2 times a day up to bottom of r/w until roots are established, if I do more I get poor results

in hot temps i flood every 2 hours up to 8x/day, in cold i take it down to every 4 hours only 3x during lights on. i find flooding them 15 on 15 off to be excessive and consider the possibility that they exploded simultaneously with the new schedule by coincidence

I don't think it was coincidence actually, I just think it kind of mimicks DWC in some respects and if done right can produce massive plants.

^ thats cheaper than running an ac unit for sure!

cant imagine the RH with tables of water bubbling all day in a hot room aye
Actually the humidity is not bad due to cool dry ventilation air coming in. I run covered trays with suspended net pots, the temps in the root zone can get quite warm with lights raising the temps so the chilled water keeps it nice and cool, always changing the cycle and honestly it doesn't seem to affect things that much.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm guessing I'll need to tapper off the nutes early for the 8-9 weeker and a bit late for the 7 weeker.

Should I go by tech colour ?

I've followed directions on packaged nutrients and always had good experiences.

The only time I looked at instructions were my first run, now I just watch the plant and the EC as well as PH. I found keeping a journal was very helpful and still keep notes. I vary rarly exceed 1500 ppm unless the plant needs it to stay green but yes last two weeks I do lower it a bit but not lots.

The two differernt finish times don't matter?
That is one of the drawbacks of a tray grow. I do find that this style is more suited to clone runs as their needs are the same. As much as I love the setup I have tweaked for the last four years there are things that are deficient with this style. Has me thinking DTW would better suit my needs. As for different finish times I do lower nutes but I have found that lowering to much slows everything down. I take the plants that are finished but leave a few lower and mid branches that amount to nothing but still keep the roots alive and somewhat healthy. The ones that are early get pretty much full strength right till harvest. Comparing the two harvest yields and taste shows no disconcernable difference.

Thanks for your advise Guys. I will have to take it on board next grow. These ladies are coming down today. Had an attempted break into the shed where they are. Someone has got a keen noise and poor morals. Just not worth the risk. They have just finished week 6 and ec is @ 1.3 any recommendations to salvaging some smoke? Cheers
