is it better to have space betwen each plant on a ebb& flow table or not , with rockwool 6inch cubes on the table .. & if i do have space betwen the rock wool , will i be putting hydroton in betwen the rockwools?

will i yield more without space or with space?
any technique more particular i should do?
i decided id do one , then go outside
so its gonna be 1 full table 4'x8'
