Effects of topping AFTER seeing white hairs..

I've been searching but can't find specific information on this subject, someone hear me out:

I have a 17-18 inch tall plant, and it has tiny pistons and very small white hairs coming out of them, so I'm certain it's a female.

I want to increase my yield by topping it, but don't know if I should since it's already started flowering. It's only at most 2 months old, with signs of sex showing just the past 2 weeks at most, but I've never topped a plant after it started showing signs of sex, I only ever top in vegetative states. Is topping it now going to effect my yield in a worse way than if I just leave it alone?

help would be greatly appreciated, gurus are welcome :bigjoint:

I think the word is "pistils" not sure if your going to get to get too many veterans to comment on your thread calling them pistons... let them be, top them next time

see when the plant begins flowering it uses the energy stored in its leaves to produce flowers(buds) chopping off leaves now could cause stress and possibly even hermie the plant leave em alone... next time remember to top them in veg once the 5th node of sun leaves present themselves.

Actually, the word is "calyx" and the white hairs coming out of the calyx are called pistils.

my post was in no way intended to be taken as hostility towards the original poster. I do not post much, just the general consensus ive seen is the pros on this site don't wanna help anyone who doesn't wanna help themselves by doing their homework first. Not trying to be a spelling, grammar, or word nazi. sorry if i came off harsh, we are all here to learn, atleast i gave u guys something to talk seeing as only 3 people offered advice. As Sunkissedbuds said, I have had great success topping after 5th node, to each his own tho.

Boys.

Yes, Boulderheads has a point. Although being nice won't hurt, right? :) I think Pnuggle's query was legit. Believe me, I have seen lazier guys in these forums with questions like: "How long do I keep my seedlings under CFL?", etc...
