Nah doube 00 for me bro. It's got the stopping power i need for one shot one kill. they don't go through a gel block that was the depth of my body from a few yards out and i'm not a chubby guy so I think i'll be cool. Dick cheyney shot his friend in the face with some bird shot and the guy was fine.

Cheney shot Harry Whittington @ 30-40 yards with #8 low brass bird shot, had he hit him at our defense range of 0-5 yards his head would have been gone.

I read recently a book by Peter Hathaway Capstick where he compared the various 12 ga buckshot rounds to some of the heavier "bird shot" shells & the results were pretty interesting.
I'll see if I can locate it again & plagiarize a bit - aside from being an interesting test, his writing style is pretty entertaining.
