hey fellas i took votech when i was in highschool for electrical work and fell in love with it for lack of a better term... anyway i got an apprenticeship under a master and made 25 an hour just to start... a great trade to get into

anyways post your electrical questions here, ill help you to the best of my knowledge which will most likely be possible

thanks a million for the help!

i got 4(100watt) cfls. but they dont fit into a normal size socket. and i cant find the adatper anywhere. how do you wire them to fit into a normal socket.
the light is mogul size. and i was wondering if there is a easy CHEAP way to wire it so it will fit into a normal socket.
thanks,
your friend,

i never heard of 100watt cfls with a mogul base, when i did my first grow i picked up a couple 150watt cfls at home depot fer 10 a piece that fit into a regular base... as per your problem i dont think adapters exist but i might be wrong... you can go to almost any grow site and theyll have mogul bases with the hot and neutral wire leads comin out for about 5 a pop... those would be your best bet and if thats what you decide to do i will happily provide you with a diagram on how to make a reflector and fixture assembly with the mogul bases

if not, go and get some high watt cfls with the normal bases from home depot and i can supply a diagram on how to make a fixture for those too

I think they can only be used in a fixture designed for that bulb. You can't just wire that bulb to 120 volts. Its not a regular CLF bulb. Did you read the info on the box that the bulb came in? I could be wrong......:peace:

yea you should check if the bulbs handle 120 or 240

if you need a 240 volt circuit you can upgrade an existing outlet
first of all the wire leading from your breaker box to the electrical box where the receptacle is needs to be at least 12 gauge for 240volts
second turn off the power to that circuit, open the electrical box and see if that outlet can handle the 240 volts, replace the outlet with one that can if needed
third after those two things are in check, turn off your power main in the breaker box and swap the 120 volt breaker that supplies that circuit with a breaker rated for 240 -or- you can add another 120 breaker onto the panel, add a tail to the wire coming from the circuit, hook the hot wire up to the new breaker and install the neutral and ground to the applicable place

i know probably totally irrelevant to your problem, but just a tidbit of knowledge to be passed along

sorry I should have been a little more specific. Its probably a 120v bulb but has an external igniter and other circuitry needed for the bulb. But again...I could be wrong. :peace:

i have a timer that is rated for 500w tungstin. forgive my ignorance but it is a bad idea to run a 1000W HPS light on that? what is the best option for this problem?

quick question can a computer fan be wired to work with a regular wall outlet? IF so how. And what do I need.

Approximately how many amps does a 400 watt mh use and do the plug in strips with breaker really afford you any protection?

I have one of these 8000 Series
Tork model 8001 duty cycle timer. ^Link to .pdf) (top one in pdf)
This says its a wiring diagram (.pdf) http://www.weisd.com/store2/27wire.pdf
But dont look like it too me lol . (top one (all models)
I just found it in my basment and its brand new .

Was wondering if you could make heads or tails of how to wire this for my carbon filter. I wired the rest of my stuff and made my ballasts remote ect . But this is a little confusing as nothing is labeled .

Thanks for your time . Hopefully someone knows :)

No a computer fan is 12 volts.
Got an old cell phone charger laying around? Alot of them are 12 volts.
You could also go to any hardware store and tell them your looking for a 12v transformer for an old door bell system and use that to power it(the best option IMO)
