Im in the process of setting up a 2 1000 9x5 tent in my basement. i have contacted a electrician that does grow ops(im in COLORADO). after chatting and explaining my setup he said it would cost about $460. he said that includes running a wire from my circuit panel in my garage to a new panel he would setup in my basement and he would also put a outlet for me to use in my basement. Seems like a lot to me but i dont know. what do you guys think????? the distance from my panel in gararge to my grow area is about 50ft. that would break my budget by about $200.

is or does he have to pull a permit? is he licensed too?
if he' buying subpanels, wires etc that's probably not too bad a price. did he break it down by hours and supplies? or just one lump number?

Sounds bout right. he'll have around 150.00 in materials, shouldn't take more than 1/2 day. Ask him if that's the best he can do...

Yeah man. What's $460 when it gives you peace in your mind that you and your children are safe. Sounds like a legit electrician. I know it's hard to understand but, dude has a family to feed too and will probably have a helper to pay. Also. Consider over doing the panel for more than you will need right now in case in the future you decide to add more lights etc.

Kudos bro. Most RIU dudes do crazy dangerous electrical stuff. Your doing it right and pro.

LOL. I doubt OPs little grow in Colorado with $460 worth of electric work will attract that much attention.

BTW. I see articles like that from all over in many different states. But, thanks. That kinda bust probably happens pretty regularly. I'll be glad when MJ is legalized nationwide. Still wouldn't matter to me though. I only need to grow a plant or two to supply myself.

they blew the transformer, edison came to fix it and saw the line of a/c units and called foul. Was just showing how bad electrical can lead to bad things.

2x 1000w means 1 20a outlet or 2 15a outlets, but I would just go with 2x 20a myself.

Breakers: $10 (2x 20a, I just did this (4 of them), mine were $4 each)
12ga $60 for way more than you need.
2x 20a outlets $10
Electrical box(s) $1-4
Wire staples: $4

It's really easy and you will be safe if you turn the power off, but stay a little scared. Have a buddy with you to hold a flashlight and be there in case of emergency.

Lol. I wish I could. He does major ops so I'm sure he can get and I don't know if he smokes. Cant hurt to ask but I'm trying to be as legit as possible.
