Home Depot sells 150w HPS bulbs and the also sale clamp fixtures that are rated upto 250w bulbs. Will they work togather? Why or why not? It seems like they would but nobody I know of is doing it so I wonder if there is a reason.

No it doesnt have a ballast but I've seen people running HPS out of standard household sockets. I don't know thought I may have found some cheap HPS lighting but prolly to good to be true.

You could ask someone that works at the store. I am almost certain that what you heard from the other responses is true, you will need a special socket and a ballast etc. for it to operate, at least operate properly. :fire:Don't want to cause any fires.:leaf::leaf::leaf:

when you said .... I've seen people running HPS out of standard household sockets. these sockets are connected to a ballast, these are remote ballast which just means the ballast is seperated from the bulb by wire. this means the warm ballast can be placed outside the growroom while the bulb can be placed inside :) helps with temperature control. but im pretty sure that all HID(high intensity discharge) lights use a ballast no matter the wattage.
