This is a test of new strain from Hazeman Seeds Elephant "13".

Started two seeds in Pro-Mix with some Root-n-Grow.
At 17 days I decided to transplant:

I vegged for 30 days before sticking them into bloom;
here we are at 30 days veg:

Into bloom for 7 days:

Hanging chain for LST because oh man did these babys stretch:

The 'short' pheno at 22 days bloom:

The 'tall' pheno at 22 days bloom:

Horses back in the barn and tied up for the night:

I use 1000 w MH @3500K color , and 500 to 600 w of CFL's @2700K color surrounding HID.
This is Elephant "13" plants in foreground today:
e13-25.jpg

Here's most of light setup:
light-setup.jpg

I was running the HID 12 hours and the CFL's 11 hours, (start CFL cycle half hour late and end cycle half hour early).
But I am now trying something new: during lights on cycle the CFL's start a half hour after HID does and then run one hour on followed by one hour off.
The CFL's switch on a total of 6 hours during the 12 hour cycle.

It has brought the heat down in my bloom, and will save some energy.
It's yet to be determined what affect the intermittant side lighting will produce with the plants.
I like to think of the CFL cycle as clouds rolling overhead.

Here's a shot of a Grape Stomper and a Pine Tar I grew in my bloom last year with far less robust CFL side lighting:

Awesome genetics.. Do you have better pixs of your pine tar? What are your dislikes so far on all of them?

no - I'm not real good at saving pics after posting and I didn't keep it.

Everyone thinks I'm crazy, and I am; but I can't keep everything and follow the med law.
It is better to have loved and lost than to never haved loved at all?

These plants are really looking sweet now - I will get off butt and take pics soon.

Dislikes? Hmmm. That's a tough one.
The Pine-Tar alone was too harsh tasting for my likeness.
The GDP and LVPK are slow veggers and have somewhat fragile stems during bloom but the smoke is dank.
This is second go around for Elephant Stomper I grew from seed, now a clone, and there is nothing I don't like about that one.
Unfortunately I won't be saving my cut, (breeder has it though), as I have other projects I wish to participate in.
Elephant "13" is 1st go around too, and so far I like everything but the fear these things might take longer than ten weeks to finish because they are super-sativa in appearence.
Breeder told me 10 weeks; but wow these things have skinny ass fan leaves that are a mile long.
Bud sites are better distributed on Elephant "13" than Purple Elephant for sure. If smoke is similar it is a clear winner.
The bud sites are more robust on the Elephant "13" as well.

Don't ask for pics: I got rid of Purple Elephant a year or two ago.:-o
Along with TrainWreck, Vortex, U.K. Cheese (exodus cut) and more.
The only one of those I didn't like was the TrainWreck. It was Arcata cut and must have had systemic bud rot or something as it would grow bad ass weed that everyone loves but the small fan leaves between buds would rot or something and smell like a sewer. It was a real chore to seperate the awful stinky from the yummy stinky so I gave up after a couple two three grows.

Hey I just got with my friend and got an image of that Pine Tar for you.

It is actually Pine Tar x Purple Rhino.

A very pretty plant as you can see and real nice yielder as well.
It's got tons of good stuff going for it but it is a bit too harsh for my liking.
Bag appeal is out of this world, and the purple actually runs when wet like when you roll a joint and lick it.

The one I had was from a clone man - not sure about Mom.

Juicy Fruit!
I've had some weed with hints of juicy fruit smell.
I've had some with moderate juicy fruit smell.
These girls are only 4 weeks out of 10? for bloom cycle and they are sticky sweet juicy fruit smellin' sirens.

Trichs are already forming on leaves which have morphed from what I will call "normal" Purple Elephantish leaves
into very thin and very Sativa look and gummyness, (is that a wrod?), that just screams uggabugga with the green teeth at you
and amaze with the trich production on parts of stems even.

I just made most of that up, (except the J. Giles lyric); but it's all true.

That's a Purple Kush -Las Vegas cut on left, Elephant Stomper on right, and Elephant "13" above in the photos.

I did not want to move plants around today; so although it may hard to see the chains - the two E 13's are actually attached to each other for LST.
These things stretched at least 300%. I'm not joking. I didn't try to measure them; but I'd say well over 4' long now.

Next update I will pull plants out of bloom room and try to get better structure pics.

Cleared room out today for a few and took a couple shots before and after trim.

The kink in the main stem is from LST work I have been doing with it:
e13a-31.jpg

Back in bloom room here is a kola.
e13a-31-c.jpg

A small bud chopped from lower branches during trim:
e13-31-trim.jpg

The trichs are forming everywhere already and the sticky is devine.
I like to trim lower stuff that doesn't get much light before the canopy gets too thick.
But for my screenless scrog I don't trim everything below canopy like I do with.

It's a little harder to keep on top of it this way; but I don't have that many plants, and this way takes less room.

6 more weeks man. 6 More Weeks!

edit... I forgot this pic of progress at 34 days bloom,
I think that is the 'a' plant in foreground:
17-e13-34-c.jpg

Well I am 6 weeks into bloom and all is going well.
The kolas on these two are stacking it up.

I had a taste of it from when I trimmed and the smoke smells fruity as well.
Excellent kick for so immature. I think I will really like this when aged proper.

Here is a shot of the 'a' plant at @40 days:

The 'a' plant kola at 43 days bloom:
13-e13a-43.jpg
Notice the other tops are building nice as well.

The 'b' plant kola and an 'a' plant lower bud:
13-e13b-43.jpg
I continue to do heavy LST to keep these puppies out of the lights.

Got about 4 weeks to go on these before harvest; so I am still feeding bloom nutes.
I mixed wbm Rap-id Gro with Root-n-Grow (both half-strength), for last feeding.
Feeding nutes is about 8 to 10 days with a fresh water or two between.
Will go with EJ Catlyst and friends for next feeding.

Well here I am at day 53 in bloom and both of these plants are looking and smelling great man.

I guess these are both same pheno as I think any difference at this point is grower related.
I have to watch heat in my low ceiling area and so some buds get more than others.
I also keep a steady breeze going on entire garden and this beats up leaves a bit.

If you look at image you can see the nice big buds on the lower branches.
This plant would be great for FIM/Scrog as the secondary buds look like they like to grow big.

Still I would not FIM/Scrog while hunting phenos;
You just have to experience that first kola experience in my opinion.
Leave the fancy stuff to the clones and grow a trophy from the seed.

Here's a wide shot of both plants this morning:
e13ab-53.jpg

and here is a kola closeup:

Closeup of closeup:

Still quite sticky and smells exactly like Juicy Fruit gun.
